Battery ?

I figure this question has been beat to death , but I'll try anyway .
My car has sat for about two weeks . I went out this morning to just take a short drive and nothing ! Absolutely no power .
So I'm looking for a battery close to me and wanted an opinion on what you guys think of this one ...

Duralast Platinum Group Size 94R H7 Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) Battery H7-AGM

Thanks for any help !!!

I have the same one. It’s been in my car since 2020… I’ve never had it die on me, although my starter, alternator, and battery have been fine, unless I leave my car for over like 3-4 weeks straight. I’ve had to charge it maybe a handful of times, but have only had to ever jump it like 4-5 times in the past 5+ years.

I'm retired so I don't drive my car regularly . I normally have it hooked up to a battery tender as I do with all my vehicles . Apparently I forgot for some reason and left it off for a while .
The battery in it was installed about 4 yrs+ ago by the dealer I purchased from . Not sure the brand but I know it isn't oem . I'll give this one a try and see . It is supposedly in stock at the store about 10 miles away .
Thanks for the reply !!!

When I was doing my research on batteries as I needed one a while back, that battery you are looking at is a good battery. I went with the Diehard Platinum AGM for my Camaro. Just make sure that before you install the new battery, put a full charge on it! I found that in researching that the battery companies fully charge them, but in doing the quality testing on them, and then them traveling to the stores and sitting on the shelves for who knows how long, they usually lose at least 1/3 of their charge. Just a heads up for you. Also I too am retired and don't drive my Camaro all the time like I used to, sometimes she sits for about a month or so, and the battery will drain some because of the parasitic drain our modules put on the system and battery. The alternators in our cars are designed to "maintaine" the system and battery, but only charge at a very low rate, so if she has sit for a while and you drive it, it won't bring it back up to a full charge. If mine did sit for as long as I said, I will put my CTEK 7002 charger on it before I take her out. Hope this helps you.

I've had the same problem. Mine can sit for 2-3 weeks regularly. My mechanic here in Arizona tells me its because of the heat. He was right since I only have the issue in the summer months. I keep it on a battery tender in the summer. No issues at all in the cooler months

Yes I plan on charging it before install , I also have a CTEK charger although not sure what model . As for the alternator , I have noticed that on some drives voltage shows 12.5 volts on the dash gauge and at other times it will be at 14+ . Is that normal as well ?
Right now I am charging one of the batteries I have sitting around . I am assuming that if I connect to the jump points under the hood I can get enough voltage to pop the trunk . Am I assuming correctly ?
Thank you for your help !!!

Yes, or you can open the door with the key, fold down the rear seat and pull the emergency cord and open the trunk, that's what I did. And yes, on the voltage showing on the gauges, that is normal for it to fluctuate like that, mine does, and has always done it. Also on my CTEK, it has a "supply" mode I think it is called, where I can hook it up to the jump points and supply enough voltage to energize the modules so you can open the doors, or pop the trunk. Here is how our charging systems work. See post number 7..

I agree with what most are saying in here. I have a Diehard Platinum AGM, and I rarely drive my car lately. It will sit for 2-3 weeks sometimes before I drive or start it. This will cause the battery to run down a bit, so I bought a battery charger/maintainer. I went with the NOCO GENIUS10 and it has been awesome.

That battery you listed seems like a good battery. I no longer buy Walmart batteries because getting them to honor their warranty is an absolute nightmare. Advance Auto makes it so freaking easy. They sell the Diehard lineup, but I am sure its the same at AutoZone regarding warranty use. Nice and easy if needed

Yeah , I went with this one because it has a 4 yr. warranty . The one I replaced had a date stamp of 2/21 . I guess that's not too bad for a 36 mo. battery .

Next battery I get will be Walmart EverStart. no point in spending 300+ when those are just fine and dont sit on shelves as long. Ive bought a $300 from O'Reilly and had to rturn it a week later cause it wouldnt hold a charge. Autozone and O'reillys dont sell batteries a much as Wlmart does. SO they sit

I went with an oem ac delco when my original finally died after 15 years. I figured if the original GM battery was good enough to go that long the first time I’ll take my chances with another GM battery. I think the key to long life is using a tender when it sits for any more than a week or so.
