What is the are called on the rear of the Camaro betweent the lights that I see painted sometimes, and why is it painted there. Is it there for a specific reason, or just because?

It is commonly called a tail panel. First Generation Big Block Camaros as well as some COPO 9561 1969 L72 Yenkos had this panel painted black from the factory.

This designated a Big Block was in between the fenders.

Dark colors did not get the backed-out treatment.

What about when the area is painted between the headlights? Not the grill, but the actual body of the car i see is painted sometimes. You can get a sticker for these for the 2010 Camaro, and the second Bumble Bee has it.

The area around the grille should be painted body color but I see tons of Camaros without that grille surround painted. I figure that it is a new grille that was purchased and didn't get to the painter with the rest of the car.
