Its 2011...You are out enjoying your new Camaro (whatever model it is)....You spot a new Challenger....you give each other a courteous nod...all the while thinking....I'm watching you mister.....you see a new Mustang....yeah...he's all yours...but you wave nicely anyway.....

You notice that for some reason you have a small group of late model American Muscle cruising together....Hmm...Camaro, Challenger, Mustang...and look there is even a Vette back there...and is that a Viper too? Cool....

Anyway....you all cruise into the local hang out and notice a collection of Import Cars....with their little neon lights, loud stereos blaring, 14 kagillion bottles of nitrous with the turbo 4 cylinders Galore....

You all park....together...not need to park over there....then slowly one by one folks start coming outside checking out the American Muscle Cars....and slowly the Import guys walk over..cautious...leery....I mean these are 400+hp Cars you buy from the factory with unrivaled matched heritage.

The import guys notice that folks are just ooing and aahing over these "Domestic cars"...They think...but I got a 2.3 liter twin over cam, vvti, twin turbo 30psi of boost, 200hp shot of nitrous, a 1000watt stereo, 20 inch wheels, lambo doors, LED lights out the wahzoo....what gives they think...

Then it dawns on one of them....What they are looking at is not just American Muscle...no sir...they are looking at what created the Car craze...the forefathers of cars....and they are back. Back with a Vengeance to show the import guys...We started it and we are here to let you know we aren't going away.....

So as the Import guys slowly walk over to one of the owners...the American Car owner puts out his hand to offer a hand shake....that says..."Hello...we are car enthusiast like yourself we just like different types of cars in this case we like the sounds of American cars...Wanna line them up?"

And so it begins again...the Domestic vs Import wars....

Folks...we are closer then we think....Chevy, Dodge, Ford all back in the mix and they want the world to know....we started this craze and we are here to stay....
I dont think theres going to be Import vs Potato burners wars...

Import tuners might respect Potato burners straight line speed, but thats about it.

Its because Import tuners consider a car that is true sports car. It must be well-rounded in all areas, Speed, Handling, Braking, Aerodynamic, etc...

example, Rx7 vs GTR in Japan. Notice the Speed, Handling, braking of these cars. Mustang, Camaro, and Challenger simply aren't good enough to perform well in these roads, I bet its going to over/understeer and crash into woods...

True import tuners hang around in autocross tracks, Not 7-eleven, always racing while trying to reach optimal performance from their cars.

I think its important to distinguish real tuners vs fake or poser tuners, and not stereotype them together.

I think most of the ppl on here are alright with real tuners that actual have cars that can perform like the gtr and a rx7 like you said we just hate kids that have stupid cars that dont perform at all but just throw a body kit on it and a huge spoiler and think they are fast.

straight up, i think this is a great thread. as much as i bash ford and dodge as a born chevy man, we got to come together i hope the best for ford and dodge because it's their competition that's made chevy what it is. in this day and age, the american car is becoming an endangered species. especially if el stupido consumer reports keeps it up! i digress, anyway, it's time we show there really is no replacement for displacement and that the American car manufacturers still got it.

First - great post I like how you were able to focus our enthusiasm from Camaro vs. the other two of the Big Three, to Big Three vs. the World. I can't wait to see if and what magazine will take three of each of the top model Muscle Cars (i.e. Camaro - Z28 or what have you; Chally' SRT8; and Mustang GT500) and pit them against market competitors overseas. I'm not talking about a $70K GTR, but cars in the segment that are in competition of our cars. I think that would be a very cool showdown and I think that the "potato burners" would actually suprise many ricers with handling. Sure, we're all porkier, however, chassis tuning on Camaro and the Chally' are pretty dang good and I'm sure Ford is going to step up and represent their Mustang really well.

I think things are going to get really interesting once the Big Three's big dogs are on the streets and tracks. This is a great time to be an enthusiast!!!

i could care less about what others are driving. i might laugh about ricers, but as long as they don't bother me, who cares? a real king rules without a crown.

Reminded me of the scene from 2fast2furious:

2 Ricers vs 2 Muscle

We will have a better outcome though.

Very nice post, and x2 on turning it from GM vs. Ford vs. Dodge, to vs. Imports. As a dedicated GM nuthugger, i'll gladly accept a hand from any domestic hand before an import one.
Heritage all the way, remember where we came from so you can work towards a better future!
