This "dick" pays taxes as well. This "dick" makes mistakes like everyone else. This "dick" rectified his mistakes. This "dick" along with every other "dick" out there that patrols and wears a uniform does a lot more than write tickets. This "dick" would keep you and your loved ones from harm if the situation arised, and this "dick" doesn't even know your name...

So if at the time when he received his ticket if he acted nice and polite and acted as one that was just going to pay his ticket and forget it, How would the Officer know about the Court Date or know that they needed to appear in Court that day?
Every ticket he writes that day will be given the same court appearance date. It isn't something that is automated. Here in California you're given the date on the ticket. That day will be day the officer is off. WHether or not YOU appear has nothing to do with it. He has to go no matter what. If you, as well as any others he wrote a ticket to don't show up, he/she goes home paid for three hours of OT.

Hope this answers your question. --Eddie

Just remember to be polite and not to lie if you're going to go that route.

Amazing You stated that this person was in the wrong, yet the cop is a "dick" for doing his job? It's really very simple, don't break the law and all is well, if you do, take the consequences. Granted all officers aren't the same, some more forgiving than others, just as anyone else. Attitude goes a long ways on a traffic stop but don't go into it expecting a break. With and attitude such as yours, I can see why you wouldn't get a break.

I spent 20 years in law enforcement (retired) and I don't expect any favors and yes I like to "play" with my SS now and then BUT if I get nailed, I have no one to blame but myself. Actually, I just got through paying a ticket for 81 in a 50. The sad part, it wasn't even in my SS, it was my wife's truck! I completed the online defensive driving so it didn't go on my record and I now have an insurance discount for the DD.

We all break the law.. we just all don't get caught.

In Ohio, the hypocrisy is out of control.

For a VERY TYPICAL example:

http://www.dispatch.com/live/content...1_01EGRL0.html

The gist: two cops, one a local, the other a State Patrol, are stopped on motorcycles going over 145mph in a 65 zone. Initially no ticket at all. After huge public outcry, cited only for speeding, and given a fine. No suspended license, no jail time.

Had that been a non-hypocrite, uh, non-cop, we'd have been hauled away in cuffs and prosecuted severely with incessant droning from the hypocrites about how selfish and unsafe and nearly as bad as murder or child molestation our hideous crime was.

Thank you for keeping me in check. I didn't want to sound carried away, but I don't deal well with ignorance. This thread goes from people making adequate comments (no legal advice on my part) to people bashing on civil servants. If only they knew what the job entails...

Thank you Badger. --Eddie

Ditto....just be glad that "dumba$$" isn't fatal. You have to know your surroundings 110% of the time, including the surrounding traffic.

Alright guys, I think this thread is done, thanks again. Mistakes happen, but I can see that neither side is that forgiving.

IMO, you got lucky and should pay the ticket.... i dont know where in va you got pulled. but you are lucky she didnt give you more than one ticket.... unnecessary acceleration (4-points), failure to obey highway markings(which would mean posted speed limit) or improper driving (3 points), and speeding (4-points) on top of that.

here in va that would add up to 11 points.... take the hit of three points... go to a driving class and get 2 of them back, call it day. and be safer next time around.

if you were in fairfax im surprisd that she didnt give you all those tickets and then some... they are sticklers out there.....

It is kinda funny to not notice a cop right behind you. Too bad the cop dash cam doesn't have a pic of her face as you took off! Bet it was like 'You have GOT to be kidding me!?'

LOL

one of the most ignorant statements i've ever read !! like someone else here said, attitude goes a long way. with yours, you'll be lucky if you enough money left over to make your car payments.

i guess the family members of the man whose life myself and my squad mates saved on christmas eve secretly thinks we are dicks.

grow up pal !
