Is a warning ticket an actual ticket that the police officer gives you?

I wouldn't know. I've never received a warning. Just tickets.

Never heard of a warning ticket, just verbal warnings to get something fixed or next time a ticket ...

The ticket may not show, but when they pull up your plate they can see ever time you have been stopped and your plates have been ran for the last 3 years. The times you have been stopped in those 3 years will go a long way in if you get a ticket or not. If you have been pulled over a few times then why give a warning? you keep getting stopped so a ticket is needed as far as the police mindset.

At my department we call them written warnings. They stay in our files forever.

In Maryland they print you up a warning ticket. It does not look like a ticket but a piece of paper that is printed up showing the violation that they pulled you over for, mine says at the top: TRAFFIC VIOLATION WARNING then it has all your information name, address, license, etc. Then the reason they pulled me over.

In California they don't believe in warnings unless you got tits.

i belive warnings stay in your file forever, if you got a warning and it was written down (one that the police officer handed to you, in nj its a white piece of paper) as far as i know i think they stay in your file forever...but then again what doesnt stay in your record forever

In Ct if your lucky you can get WRITTEN WARNING instead of a actual ticket. I don't know if it's on your record or not. I'm sure all this varies from state to state.
