Taxes/Registration Fees
Hello,
I am going to be ordering my camaro in a week and 3 days and I was wondering a couple of things. After scouring the forums, it seems that many of you are paying around 2-3 thousand in state taxes (2LT). I plan on financing with my dealer and was wondering if you guys know if they will/can add the tax fees into my monthly payments, or will I have to pay the state the full tax amount all at once. This is my first time buying a new car, so I'm new to this. Thanks in advance. |

Taxes and fees will vary by state. You should be able to finance the taxes, fees, warranties, etc., but they'll probably require something down depending on you credit rating.

taxes and license are figured in on the price of the car.if the bottom line is let's say $37,000.00 and you put $7,000.00 down, you will be financing $30,000.00.taxes and any other charges are figured in your payment.hope that is what you wanted to know.

So I would not be having to go pay state taxes on the vehicle after the agreed upon price of the vehicle? It's already figured in?

If you are buying from a dealership in the state that you live in, they will add in all of the taxes and fees and come up with a final out-the-door price. You can then put as much money down as you want to, and finance the remainder.
If you are buying from out of state, it's a little more confusing. Let me know if this is the case and I can describe more. Joe.

Sorry I had the same question also, I am in the later option you described. I'm currently serving in the military in Colorado, which is where I will be picking the car up but I will registering it in Texas. Does anyone have any ideas about tax title and license for each state? Or which state I will need to pay what in? My car will be coming in about two to three weeks and I kinda want an idea before I go to the dealer.

If you are buying out of state you must pay tax, tag and title at the local DMV office in the state it will be registered (if you order in Colorado but live in Texas you must pay these fees at your local Texas DMV office). You have a small time frame to pay these from the time you get the vehicle so if you are out of state for extended periods and can not get to the registered state, you need to get someone to pay them for you. For more information you need to call a DMV office in Texas and talk to them as every thing varies from state to state.
Remember if doing this to tell your salesman, if you don't you will end up paying Colorado tax, tag and title fees without knowing. |

From my experience, when I've bought cars out of state, the dealership has been able to calculate the sales tax % in my state and collect it at time of purchase and send it to my state. In my case, it has been added to the total purchase/loan amount and isn't paid separate.
But it depends entirely on the state. In Nebraska where my parents live, they have to pay the sales tax when they go to register the vehicle, it doesn't happen at the dealership. Best advice would be to call your dealership, and they will know how it works in your situation. I'm sure they deal with it all the time. |
