growing up in the LaHarpe area, I got a ride in a real COPO ZL1 with Fred Gibb at the wheel. He took me a ride as he was going to the bank, so with bank bag and me riding shot gun we headed to the road east of the old dealership,if you know the area and are familiar with it you know this road. There is a reason these cars are legendary! Plus I even got to meet Helen, his sweet wife. Great folks, and that ride he gave me I will treasure for the rest of my life. The camaro sure didnt look like much, til he started it...

That's a great story. Thanks for sharing. I know exactly the road you're talking about and often wondered how many of the original ZL-1's made a trip down that road! (all of them, I hope!)

Helen Gibb is one of the sweetest little old ladies I've ever met and a treasured friend. She has some great stories to tell from back in the day as well.

The body-knocker that just did the work on Pedders Saleen is from the Joliet area. While we were in the paint booth taping together and talking I found out he was a HUGE Gibb fan back in the day. What a small world.

The Fred Gibb memorial show is this Saturday. We'll be in Monmouth on Friday. They had over 2000 cars there last year.

Helen Gibb is 80 plus years young and just got her new hip......we look forward to seeing the family on Saturday.

We have a parts hold up on Fred Gibb number 1, however, the two Fred Gibb prototypes which commemorate Fred Gibb as well as the original GM 427 ZL1 prototypes, built by Nickey, will be there.

The one and only 2010 Official Yenko with a real 427 will be there along with a couple of our Nickey Stage III Camaros.
