Has anyone (IPS, Jannetty) done a study of HP gained from Headers?

Trying to decide which headers to add to a Borla Atak exhaust and wonder which make the most power.

Thanks!

The rule of thumb is 20-30 rwhp. That being said, most LT headers are done with a tune, which is pretty important and makes up good portion of the gain from LT's. This is because the tune basically recalibrates the engine to use the headers. Because of this however, a dyno test does not make sense. There will be more of a power difference based on your choice of tuner than your choice of header.

Sure you can test them without a tune..but that is irrelevent because without the recalibration of the tune, the car is not using the headers to their potential.

I would generally say this to be accurate. However there are some headers that are better then others, in engineering and fitment.

Tuning is important as mentioned , and I see you're in Belmont so your not far from us, which would allow us to do a custom dyno tune calibration on our dynojet.Having completed over 200 camaro tunes to date I think we could calibrate your camaro very nicely with an addition of long tube headers.

As for brand, we are all preferential to brands. Typically at IPS we choose Kooks custom long tube headers , they seem to produce market leading horsepower numbers, fit very well, made in America (a personal preference) and have a lot of technology in their design (we also have AWESOME pricing). The same can be said for ARH and Stainless Works as to not get them in the mix. I do believe however that these three manufactors will yield you with in approxamittly 2-5% horsepower increase.

Some times the bottom line is also the budget constraint of the client. Many times in the decision process clients choose the greatest amount of marginal utility with respect to their budget constraint (for you econ guys )!

If you have any questions please let me know , I have multiple clients dyno charts we can refer to for you for comparisons if you need as well, and if your in the area and would to see the product we stock long tubes (as well as many other performance parts)!

Regards

I would be interested in the Kooks long tubes with the Borla S type or ATAK exhaust. Do you have any dyno charts that compare?

Dyno charts to compare against different brands, or just with similar products?

No, I was hoping you had a chart with the Kooks and a Borla Atak exhaust.
