I don't know, maybe I'm wrong, but I never really considered the Challenger to be a "Pony" car. Like what's been said before, the things huge and heavy. To me the Challenger's nothing more then a rich man's toy/ it's more of a show car then anything else. The Camaro and Mustang are what I consider to be the "working" class sports cars, a car anybody can buy. So let Dodge do what they want with the Challenger, it's not gonna be any real compition with Chevy or Ford unless it goes on a major diet or a huge engine to move that tank around.

I was about to say the same thing.

You probably won't be able to drive that car anywhere without drawing way, way too much attention. It's almost too retro looking. That car is all about it's looks without any question.

+2 Repeat of the Prowler, imo. I was very interested in the Challenger when it first surfaced, but the closer it gets to production, my interest wained. Rich man's toy, for the lose.

I dont think the car looks good at all. Not only is it too retro looking but it doesnt look agile at all, probably it wont perform agile either.

I can't beleave how much fun you guy's poke at the challenger. If you were to chop off the front 6 inches and the back 6 inches off both the challenger and the camaro you would hardly be able to tell the difference between the two cars at a first glimps. It may be a couple of hundred pounds heavier than the camaro but it's not a bad looking car. I bet you'ld all want to get it if the 5th gen weren't coming out. Lucky for us it is comming out though, cause I love that camaro!

It's not that people are knocking it's just that Chrysler is going in the wrong direction with it. It was supposed to be a direct competitor to the Camaro and Mustang. Now they're saying it's a limited production vehicle. That means high mark-up and everyday joes won't be able to get one.

I never cared for it either way. To me, mass or limited production doesn't matter. I can't see myself driving it. It's a great-looking car, but it's too retro.

And let's face it...anything short of a Camaro or Corvette - prepare to be poked in the ribs a little bit.

Yeah I agree with what you guys are saying.I think when the camaro comes out,the real arch rival will be the mustang. The challenger will have a completly different segment than the real pony cars, from what I understand the challenger is supposed to be a lot more expensive than the mustang/camaro.If Im going to spend that kind of money,I rather have a vette

I started out interested in the new challenger, but I kept hearing more an more that the production numbers were going to be low, which equals high price tag. But the thing that really turned me around (besides Transformers ) was that the more I looked at the challenger the more the car looked . . . well, tired it looks at least to me, old and it hasn't even gone into production yet.

I am still considering the Challenger, because I am stationed in Germany and the only muscle car options we have here are Mustangs, Chargers, and in the future the Challenger. They stopped selling GM vehicles to us over here

So unless I buy one in the states and ship it over I am SOL...but a new Challenger I can buy and have it delivered to me here through military sales programs.
