I did it ONCE when I went through road construction and they were paving the roads. I had the gravel and tar shooting everywhere. I about ran over women and children just to get to the carwash to make it home to REWASH it.

I still have nightmares about the sounds of all the gravel under my car clanging around the wheel well. Ugh.

Did not have a chance to read thru the thread, but Thor and Thor V 2.0 as well as Magni (Mom Settlemire's Camaro) all have gone thru SELECT car washes.

I will not run them thru just ANY carwash - but Mr. C's wash in Grosse Pointe Farms does a first rate job - I've run black cars thru and then had the paint examined - no scratches whatsoever.

(......Thor, Thor V 2.0, and Magni all claim that "that tickles" when going thru the wash....) (.......just sayin.......)

I had mine washed twice in a car wash and already I found a few scratches. My car used to be immaculate when I was hand washing it.

I suspect the soap would be more likely to remove the wax than the water pressure. We use the right soap at home, but there's no telling what is used at the car wash.

Well for all of you that are scare of a car wash. I own one and I put thru my 2011 Camaro about 3 times a week. I belive in my wash and it is safer ans faster than a hand wash.

Depends on how you use the car wash. When in Oshawa, I found a nearby car wash, I had my own soap, mitt and bucket, so just used rinse water to fill bucket, hand washed it inside the bay, then rinsed it with regular pressure without the power trigger. Pulled it out and dried it off. No problems, no issues. Essentially hand washed at the car wash.

But I don't trust the automated car washes. I just don't.

Hand wash only for me, no exceptions. (I don't drive it in the winter though). I wouldn't use a touchless either because I think the pressure is way too much. I would think that it could actually do more damage to the paint.
As for using a touchless and then drying it with a towel later, it's probably scratching the paint because those washes aren't perfect.
