I went through a DWI stop Saturday night without problems (I wasn't drinking and the officer LOVED the car so much she didn't notice the missing front plate).

As I drove off, another officer pointed and said, "Damn! That's a nice looking Mustang!"

I'm a pretty intimidating guy to look at and if I'm not smiling people think I'm really pissed off but I'm not at all. I think this makes people think twice before saying something stupid or give me the 1000 yard stare. But when they do get my negative attention I really make sure they know that they should keep thier slander to themselves. Especially about something that I love. But this rarely happens. I get way more compliments.

I did consider it... I will handle it next time instead of being the nice guy that just drives away.

Lucky me, the only haters I've run in to so far I just noticed were on the Cobalt forum when i said "ciao" after I traded the Cobalt in. I posted there a couple of months ago, and happened to sign in today for the first time since. My goodness I got assaulted with group hate over my choice! Come on it's still a Chevy! Well everyone thinks I shoulda got a V8 or a Mustang. One didn't like blue. Crimeny. Some people would complain if you hung them with a brand new rope.
However there were a couple of well-wishers too, and one even suggested I visit camaro5.com because people over here were so awesome!
Off the computer and on the streets it's been nothing but "Wow, nice!!!" I'm sure the passive/aggressive haters are out there telling their friends what a POS it is!

The ding doctor is coming to my house next week to repair two dings -- one of the right rear fender, the other on the driver's door.

Like the OP, I park away from everyone, except my friendly coworkers in our underground garage.

Whenever I'm forced to park next to another car, I always leave like a quarter space between us to avoid dings.

It has not worked at all.

When you see this beautiful, clean, waxed piece of art, HOW IN THE WORLD CAN YOU SWING OPEN THE DOOR OF YOUR CAR SO HARD IT PUTS A DENT IN MINE?!!!!

By leaving a quarter space, do you mean that you take up more than one space? If so, that could be a problem. A lot of people see that as asking for trouble, like you think your car is better than someone else's.

It all goes back to the jealousy thing. Some people just don't respect other people's nice things.

Was at IHOP last week, some tool takes two spaces for his (Expensive)convert. I was .
Was watching as some older people had to park far away from the door. Those are the people that get keyed. I'm not saying you should'nt protect your car , but if it really is a problem ,park it faaaaaaar away.

Anyone with a nice car or decent automobile will compliment it.

I get "the stink eye" from Honda drivers also......when I'm in the VW GTI....

However, in the last month, right rear fender received a 6-inch scratch above the wheel well! Not keyed but so deep I paid $495 to repaint. Two weeks ago, on the same passenger side fender I was dinged in two places. Happy to say a ding doctor came to me and fixed the two dings ($150) but one ding damaged the clear coat and I will need to address in the future. One week later, another ding on passenger side door.
I drive seldom, park at the end of the lot when I venture out.
Love my Camaro but perhaps Camaro hating people want to damage my car
Sorry for this post but just had to vent to people that understand my frustration.

Believe me dude, i feel your pain! I really do believe there are some serious Camaro haters out there! I just got mine back too. I ALSO park in underground parking where i live and i too am nice to all....but to my dismay, i went out to drive my car one day and some asshole scratched a penis on the back of my car and put a package of ham slices under my friggin car cover!!!! sooo....ur not alone my brother!!!
