they say you can run 87 octane, but if i were you i would run only premium gas either 91 or 93 octane. i have the L99 and have only run 93 octane in mine.

owner's manual / Shell 89 octane

i agree, the owner's manual says:

If the vehicle has the 6.2L V8
engine (VIN Code W) or the 6.2L
V8 engine (VIN Code J), use
premium unleaded gasoline with
a posted octane rating of 91 or
higher. For best performance, use
premium unleaded gasoline with
a posted octane rating of 93.

my dealer says i should be ok with Shell 89 octane, but there's a big price increase for 91 octane in SE CT. trying to find out if anyone else is using 89 octane, thanks

It runs on 87 or 89...just not as happy. Not even remotely.

why would you want to do that to your engine?
don't run low octane gas in a high-compression motor

I don't think I've ever pulled into a station that was out of any grade octane.

It doesn't happen often, but in my area we get a huge amount of traffic with everyone heading thru the state to get to the beaches and if NASCAR is in town for sure its gonna happen to a few stations.

love when i heard people start to talk about MPG , when they bought a 6.2L v8 engine... never gets old... the camaro gets the bets MPG on premium , so really getting 87 is dumb...
