Hi mjn56, this is Hair Nation SS from the car show at Ft. Devens over the summer. We parked beside you. Our IOM is covered and buried right now...very sad. Hope all is well. -Roy

Why the weekly warm ups? It's probably good for you but I don't think its good for the Camaro.

The effectiveness of starting your car every week or so is being debated right now. Too lazy to do it myself but if you do a quick search you can find the different threads.
But basically the general consensus is that warm-ups may not be necessary but there a some minor benefits that some people find worth it. But in the end, its really to each his own.

Battery tender is all you need, no reason to start it if you aren't driving it.....unless your storing it for like 5 years lol

If you have a garage perhaps, but for those of us forced to store our cars outside starting it and letting it run helps to keep the battery charged up. I don't think weekly is necessary. One a month is fine.

The only thing that concerns me is the valves that are open and their compressed springs in such a state for so long. But that fear may be a non issue. Anybody care to comment.

I hear you paul but as an engineer springs are designed for infinite fatigue life, and can stand being statically compressed like that without yield.

The only reason I would be worried would be because of moisture in the engine...

I would pull the battery and put it inside on a tender.

Ken

As long as you run the car long enough so that the oil (not just coolant) comes up to temp. It should be fine. Usually I only start it if it's nice enough to drive it though. So that means no snow on the ground and the rain has come and washed the salt away. The way things are lately I won't fire her up again till April.

You dont want to leave any condensation in the exhaust system.

Mine is in a garage that never goes below 40 degrees but sometimes it goes higher if I have to be in there for an extended period of time.
