I don't mind waiting, but I'm wondering how the allocation process works and how predictable it is/isn't.

Order Number: PNVWBX,
Status 3/15/2011: (1102) Order entered via web.

Today dealers received their allocation for the next month. They should be able to tell you how many they got and when they would be able to place the order. Keep in mind, they don't HAVE to tell you anything, but the info is there. The dealers were given a "guide number" for convertible allocation. Basically the factory told each dealer how many converibles they would get for the year. There may be more available later on, but that's the number we're all working from.
I hope that helps, but if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks! The dealer has told me I'm "next", whatever that means. If the allocations are monthly however, and were just distributed today, does that mean my order either gets placed shortly, or I'm looking at an additional 4-weeks if I don't make this round?

This round of allocation covers 4 weeks and the first opportunity
is tomorrow. Every Thursday, the dealers get a portion of their
monthly allocation to place their orders. If the dealer has a
convertible to order, maybe that will be yours. It could be that
they won't have any to place until next week or the week after
or the week after. They would need to look at their final allocation
by week report to know when it can be placed. But, if you are next,
hopefully that's a good sign.

Thanks - and thanks Becky for the explanation on how the allocation process works. I waited for my 95 Z28 coupe special order, I waited for my 2000 Z28 convert special order, and I've waited 11 years for them to make a new convert, so a few months more is no big deal. I still really like driving the 2000, so it's not like I'm suffering :-) I am hoping for a bit of predictability however, so I have a better idea of when to put the 2000 up for sale.

PNCG1W
Status 03/01/2011 - (3000) Order accepted by production control. Parts being ordered and production process is underway.
TPW 2011-03-28
Checked on 03/17/2011

A few questions if it might:

1. What does "Checked" really entail?
2. Is there really a hold on Verts as I read on another thread, as reputedly there is a leaking issue in the fleet?
3. Any other info on this one, that maybe Chevy connects isn't reporting?

Thanks!

Hey Becky still waiting but getting closer. Quick question - I have heard rumors about a convertible hold due to leaking tops and GM is working on a fix - is this true?

Thanks - Matt PHVPQH

It is an inspection of the water management bag to not interfere with the top assembly number five (5) bow.
This procedure must be performed on all Camaro Convertibles prior to VIN B9171295. From this VIN on forward this procedure was performed in the Oshawa Assembly plant.

That's the only word we've had on any issue with the convertible tops.

Will there be documentation with the car if the inspection has been done?
