EXTREMELY LOUD!!! HELP ME PLEASE!!

So first i didn't have the funds and did an SLP axle back straight pipe kit along with an airaid intake. It sounded amazing, throaty and beautiful! A couple days ago i brought my car in to a performance shop, gritted my teeth and said do it. He put 1 7/8 in headers and high flow cats with colder plugs and a colder thermostat as well as a custom dyno tune. However.... i get it back and with the muffler delete i had done it is so ridiculously loud. Driving it home from the shop i floored it from the light and the guy in the car next to me heard it and it was so loud he dropped his phone in mid call. SO, my question for you is if i do a flow-master like i was looking at will it still be ridiculously loud? My other thought i was kicking around was just putting the stock mufflers back on to quiet it down, but i just wasn't sure if i will lose much horsepower with the stock mufflers. I am a newb so any help or suggestions would be much appreciated!

I would go with either the stock mufflers or the FlowMaster HushPower, either will tone it down under normal driving conditions and still open up under WOT.

Adding a muffler, stock or otherwise, will help. I would never go back to the stock boat anchors though.

[QUOTE=upflying;3047865]Anti-social behavior such as loud and annoying exhaust creates stereotypes and pre-judgments in the minds of the onlookers who are subjected to the offensive noise.
You may be doing the entire community of enthusiast car owners a favor by toning down the volume a bit.
Using SEMA as our advocate, we should be positive salespeople for our performance modified vehicles. If not, some legislator in your state will introduce a bill to make our lives difficult and unpleasant.[/QUOTE:slice: thanks for stopping by though

I had the same problem with my corsa after Lt install, so I went with the magnaflow street cat back and it sounds great now.

Talk to Ivan at Southwest Speed. The Doug Thorley catback will help a lot at a reasonable price.

I just added stainless works headers to my catback. I went ahead and changed out the 3" mufflers with their chambered ones at the same time. I didn't want the neighbors coming after me with torches and pitch forks

Louder the better, keep it the way it is, if I drove my 502 IROC there, everybody would be dropping their cell phones.

If you can't afford an axle back or cat back exhaust, then putting the ugly stock mufflers back on (until you can afford an after market exhaust) is an option and it will quiet it down. It will not be as quiet as it was when stock though because the headers add sound. It will sound MUCH better (imho) than it does with no mufflers.

The headers were a GREAT move on your part. Don't panic. You just need mufflers of some kind.

The volume of running a muffler delete is great...WITHOUT headers. I am sorry, I know I will get flamed for this too, but there is a huge difference between loud with a great tone, or just plain obnoxious and loud.

If you are here just to make this car loud, with no tone or depth to your exhaust sound, you are doing it to get attention, PERIOD....and sorry again, but that is pathetic.

OP, consider the Borla Touring exhaust axle back, or even consider the flowmaster american thunder cat back. It only runs for 650 dollars on Marylandspeed.com, and you get the complete set up. It will still have that nice crunch, but will not be overwhelming.
