Small warp in bumper
After my third coat of klasse sealant, there is now a mirror finish and I found a small warp in my bumper right next to where it meets up with the rear corner panel. It is about the size of a dime. Do you think the dealer will fix it? I am assuming paintless dent repair will take care of it. It looks like small dent.
When I took possession of the car, they did such a less than desirable job of detailing the car, I never found it. Not sure how flexable the dealers are after you take possession. Last edited by ambientweather; 04-23-2011 at 09:00 PM. |

Here is the image. It is hard to see and the garage floor does not help.

If the dealer pays for it, that's great; but don't let them paint it. That's an easy fix for a PDR guy, and you won't have to worry about them mixing to match your finish. That's going to be relatively inexpensive, so if the dealer doesn't agree to pay for PDR, just pay for it yourself. Trust me, you'll be happier with that over letting the dealer use Bondo and paint.

No way anyone would be stupid enough to use Bondo and Paint on thin plastic, but hey, you never know, and it is a good point. PDR or nothing. Just a bit surprised it made it through QC. Spoke to the dealer and they have a specialist on staff.

You're right about the Bondo. I didn't even think about that quarter panel not being sheet metal, although I wouldn't put it past some people to try that. PDR is still the way to go, though.
Good luck.

I'll have to check mine out tonight just to be sure. ambientweather , not to change the subject, I've seen a few guys here mention the product "Klasse". Looks like a great product. Did you apply it by hand or with an orbital waxer?

By hand. You have to apply very little product. I use an applicator pad, spritz it with detail spray to get it wet, and use about a dime size of the product per quarter panel. The damp pad reduces friction and allows you to spread the product better.
It creates a mirror finish, lasts longer than carnuba and is a polymer, which protects the paint. Once you add 3 coats, you are good for 6 to 12 months. The big mistake is people apply too much and it streaks. Less is more. I clayed the entire car after my dealer detailed it (which looked like crap). The clay removes most contaminates. I added one coat of klasse per week, washng the car each time to remove dust. It looks like a mirror now. Some people prefer car wax which they claim has more of a glow, but I like that hard shine, especially with red jewel. I even do the vinyl stripes and it does not discolor the plastic. Never use circular motions, always straight lines and use microfiber towels. I studied detailed notes on this website and watched utube videos. Good luck! |

thanks for the input. I've read back in all the post on the Klasse product line. Seems to be the way to go. Wouldn't you know, I got busy cutting grass after work and forgot to check rear pass fender. I've washed it a number of times in the last few weeks but didn't recall seeing anything. I'll check at lunch time for sure. I know what you mean by the dealers idea of detailing. I had adhesive in places where I imagine they had attached the protective sheeting for transport.
