Same exact thought here. I was very tempted to go with an M6 both for LS3 & cheaper, but after doing some test runs in my ganddad's manual car and even though I could drive it fine, it was nothing but a pain in the ass to constantly be shifting gears up and down. Honestly I'd rather enjoy driving my car than having to shift gears every 5 seconds, because unless you do a lot of driving in the middle of nowhere boonies, you're gonna be doing a lot of shifting more often than what it's worth. I think what finally sold me on the Auto is that overall it's always going to be the better car of the two.

After awhile you get use to shifting and you dont even realize it. I drive 28K miles a year. I drive in traffic. I dont even realize I am shifting. Only time a lil annoying when traffic is rolling less then 5mph so then I have to stop every coupel second when I catch up because in first rolling on idle car does 4-5mphs

Typically, manual transmissions have a slightly lower amount of power loss associated with them thanks to the clutch vs TC, and simpler transmission of torque through less gears, etc.

An official announcement/statement has yet to be made one way or the other...don't bow out, yet...

I'd again urge everyone not to get too worked up about this one way or the other...

Whatever Chevy decides to do, you can be sure it's with the best interests of the ZL1 at heart...after all, there's some pretty bright people on the Camaro team...And if whatever they've analyzed to make a decision resulted in a toss-up - you can bet they'd decide in favor of their customers, the enthusiasts.

It's fun to debate...let's just try to not get nasty about it. There's just no reason to.

I beleive not making an automatic would be a mistake . I,m getting the first one my dealer is ordering when the time comes . IOM , white stripe , AUTO and every option offered , just like the early order 2010 I have now. If no AUTO I will not order . In 68 I ordered a 69 Z/28 and never got it because southeast asia got in the way . I waited 41 years for my orange Camaro . Had to get AUTOMATIC because my left leg got left in Viet Nam . GM is offering great military discounts but several won't buy the new Camaro if it is clutch only because of disabilities . Just my take on it !

what it boils down to is opitions, I really believe chevy could sell a whole lot more camaros if they gave people more opitions to personalize your toy; wheels, interior, tranny etc etc.

Yes, to an automatic

If they knew what was good for them if they made a sort of auto option, they should make one of those DSG transmissions like BMW uses. Those are solid automated manual trannies!

That was what my sarcastic comment was supposed to allude too, but I realize I always fail at sarcastic comments on the interwebz.
