My 2008 Malibu does this. It does not leak, and I use it everyday. Sunroof for me.

There has been no change ...it opens out over the roof. See yellow SS in showroom thread.

I am tall, I'd lose too much headroom, also about 10 years ago I had a really bad accident in my 1986 Toyota pickup, I rolled it 6 times putting a pretty bad scare across the top of my head from the impact with top of the cab, had there been a sunroof there, I'd probably be dead with nothing between my head but a shattered piece of glass. No sunroof for me, plus as someone mentioned they get old and leak.

for me, it was a no win situation. I don't like the way the sunroof looks in the open position, yet, I don't like the "reverse mohawk roof" without the sunroof. So, I ordered the sunroof to have a smoother look to the roof panel but probably will never use it. I had the exact same style sunroof in my '07 Cobalt SS and between 30-40 MPH, the airflow between the roof and raised glass in the open position caused a deafening booming sound that caused me to always leave the thing closed anyway. My daughter's '06 Cobalt has an aftermarket unit that retracts into the roof and does not have this issue.

If you have ever been in a Camaro with and without a sunroof you would know that there is more head room with the sunroof. Think about the indention for the reverse mohawk look. I was in both and I am glad I went with the sunroof. Both look sweet.

O, and….

No Sunroof.

Had one in my 2000 Grand Prix GTP. Never leaked but had it in for servicing 4 times and the motor still never worked right. Always got stuck, never opened all the way.... and when your warranty runs out, those sunroof motors are "expensive".

Additionally, it looks like crap on the Camaro in the open position.

Also, I never really used my sunroof all that much... maybe a few months out of the year I'd open it up...but mostly I just ran the air.

Lastly, I love the reverse mohawk look. Looks mean as hell....

Ditch the sunroof, it's not worth it.

If what you said is a typo, I apologize. But the Camaro WITH the sunroof has less headroom. Yes, I sat in both. WITH the sunroof I had to lower the seat all the way, and lean the seat back a little.

Without the sunroof, there was no issue with headroom whatsoever. There seems to be about an inch more headroom withOUT the sunroof.

That said, I ordered mine WITH.

Thanks for the info. I have yet to see one on the road yet sit in one... but I keep thinking I am going to see one soon, every where I look I think I see one! It's paranoia!!

Well now that I know it open to the outside the headroom lose would be minimal, in this case not at all a lose apparently. So head room aside, I still don't want a plate of glass between the top of my head and the asphalt of I roll over... that and it opening to the outside haning out like a spoiler just looks horrible to me.

LOL This is what I was getting at in an earlier post about misdirection and you can't always believe what you read... One tells me less other tells me more... we will eventually get it worked out

to make it retract inside the roof, they'd have to redesign the whole roof line, and that ain't gonna happen. the angle of the current roof makes an on-top design mandatory. sorry.

But I'd take a targa top or t=tops.
maybe t-tops, but a targa would look goofy on the camaro... especially with the back seat & all
