the trick is, GM looks at more than just the flash counter.

cus there's some tuners whose software reverts the flash counter back to what it was originally, but they dont realize that there are other ways for GM to see how many times the PCM has been accessed. the flash counter is just the easiest way

well, theoretically.... the extra power level your engine is making will then be transmitted thru the transmission. as such the transmission will wear faster than normal. now, "faster than normal" could be 100,000 miles vs 120k. or it could be 10k miles.

and I will guarantee you that damn near every tuner on here will say that you can revert your car to stock to go to the dealer. and while thats true, GM can still see it. the trick is that most people's cars dont break hard enough for GM to need to go that far into the computer

this isnt an issue dealing solely with dealers. for most major warranty claims (blown engine/trans, etc) it requires a review by upper levels at GM (not top-tier CEO's, but higher than the manager at the dealership)
thats where the issue comes into play with the tune.

that statement is exactly why I left LS1tech.com too many nuthuggers that see one guy go halfway fast and they all copy his setup and wonder why they get stomped at the track or wonder why they aren't faster than anyone else.

Trust me, GM can see it. do they care as much for V6 issues compared to V8? no.

GM doesnt need a new software program to see it. they wrote the software in the ECM to begin with. if someone changes something, they'll know. even if a "visual" counter can be reset, the other ones can't.

None that I know of. But I know one of them had a friend at the dealer and he took it in or asked him about it, it was awhile ago.
