Dealers: 2012 price not *set* yet

So I went to 5 so cal dealers, hoping to get a good price on the 2012 2SS. However, they all said the same thing.. we have a print out of the prices (which is the samething that was posted in this forum but taken down recently), but the prices aren't *set* yet. how can the prices are not set when even Edmunds has the MSRP and Invoice listed already?! One dealer said there's a mandatory 2% advertising fee.. so my question to all of you who ordered a 2012, how many of you actually got it for Invoice? how many paid the invoice+ advertising fee?
(For example: 2012 2SS coupe: Invoice= 34,032)

i have not heard of an advertising fee. my dealer said they were going to sell the car to me at invoice. and that's before we sit down and negotiate ( of course im going to try and get the lowest price I can ), the car is going to be written up and a deal made when it arrives and I go to pick it up. i also have a couple discounts, so i'm pretty sure i'll walk away under invoice. I am a re-peat customer of theirs with a trade-in if that makes any difference.

Some dealers pay an advertising fee for each vehicle they sell. This fee is charged by the manufacturer and is used to promote the brand in the dealer's geographic area. I believe (someone correct me if I am wrong) but I think GM adds in 2% of advertising on every vehicle to cover their costs. Its a legitimate fee and you can haggle on it since it should appear on the invoice.

Typically if the dealer wants you to pay the ad fee, you can negotiate with them to deduct it off their holdback to help offset the costs.

We agreed on 2012 supplier pricing...which looking back was a little bit foolish on my part. At the time I was getting close to a buying a Camaro on the lot. Supplier pricing was mentioned for that one...and when that car wasn't exactly what I wanted...we decided to order one. For the 2011's the difference between supplier pricing and invoice was a little over a $100 so I figured there wouldn't be too much of a difference and I wouldn't have to get in the whole haggling process. But for the 2012 pricing it looks the difference is over $500! The dealer also told me the increase would be about $300...and $500 tops. Obviously, doesn't look like thats going to happen...

I called him to discuss my feelings on that and he claimed that the pricing was not released yet and he hadn't heard the numbers that I had. He said we could figure it out then. I got a pretty good deal on my trade in so in reality...the numbers work out in the end but I still should have gone straight from invoice.

You just say "I will pay invoice." No need to know exactly what that number is. We all have a roundabout idea, and if you can't afford last year's price plus a little, you need to shop for a less expensive car.

I sent the spec sheet over to my salesman, and he went into the system and did a "fake" order to verify the prices where in fact correct. The spec sheet numbers matched exactly to what he was seeing.
