waste of money and you will regret it when you want to do mods.

I picked up my GMPP plan at 11,500 miles - same price as it would have been at 10 miles but instead I'm now covered out to 111,500 miles instead of 100,010 miles. I drive too much to be worried about the months of coverage part...
That's my plan too. Wait until about 11K or so and then get it so like you I'll be covered to about 111K.

well i would confirm if it ADDS it to your existing 100000mile/5yr power train 36kmiles/3 year bumper to bumper..if its only extending the bumper to bumper to 5/100k- then it isnt worth it. I toss them when i get them in the mail.

I'm really starting to think it may be a waste of money. I know I won't do any engine mods...more of an appearance guy...but I just don't put on the kind of mileage that would make something like this worth while. I have some time, but I am leaning towards "No".

Now here is the issue with me. Will they offer this plan...no matter what...as long as you don't have 12,000 miles on the car yet? My current offer expires on 10/30/2011. As I mentioned in my original post, the car I traded in for my Camaro was 6 years old at the time (I bought it brand new) and it had 11,800 miles on it.

I can't imagine they would offer me something that far down the road as I wouldn't have 12,000 miles on the car yet...but, if they did...I'd be stupid not to jump on it then. I doubt it though.

No extended warranty is ever bumper to bumper, but it will extend coverage on non-power train components. I've been in the dealership service business for years and always recommend purchasing the factory extended warranty coverage if you plan on keeping the vehicle.

I had a Nissan Maxima which is somewhat similar in price to the Camaro SS - I got a 7 year / 70,000 mile bumper to bumper extended warranty from the Nissan dealer for $1400 on that car. My Chevy dealer offered me a 5 year / 100,000 mile bumper to bumper extended warranty for $2200 and I thought that seemed way high so turned it down. I would consider a lower priced extended warranty but nothing over about $1500 tops. The higher number of years of coverage is more important to me than a high number of miles as I put less than 10,000 miles per year on my cars.

I just bought one with 32k miles on mine . I know its not full bumper to bumper but covers your ac, fule pump and major componets not covered by powertrain. They extended mine to 72k

The powertrain warranty doesn't cover a lot of things you might think it does. I certainly don't want to shoulder the cost of the non-covered items after the 3yr/36k warranty expired. I'd recommend reading the fine print.

I think there are also third party extended warranty companies out there, but don't know how good or reliable they are. Might be worth looking into

I found gmoutlet.com has the best prices that my local dealer could not touch.

Also, I could have sworn that the very day I bought my car from the dealer I spoke with GEICO (my car ins company) on the phone, and they informed me that they have something they can offer me as well (in the warranty category). I think they even said I had about 15 Months to take their plan. I intend on contacting them again as I can't remember what it was.

I have that Mechanical Breakdown Insurance from Geico on both my Silverado and Camaro. Its much more affordable than the one offered by GM. I read the terms of mine and its very similar to extended warranties that I have had from other companies before except this is much more affordable and you can take your vehicle to the repair facility of your choice. Hopefully I'll never need it but mine is only just appx $47 every six months, and its bumber to bumper 7yr/100,000 with a $250 deductable.

So at a rate of costing you $94.00 a year, it would take 10 years to cost you $940.00 versus the $1899.25 that GM wants in a year and a half (18 months).

After 20 years of paying your rate ($47.00 / 6-months = $94.00 / year) you would have paid out $1880.00. GM's Protection Plan will cost me more than that in a year and a half.

OK, fine, GM's plan has a $0.00 deductible, and GEICO's has a $250.00 deductible, but it's not worth the $0.00 deductible considering how costly it is.

I was wondering what GEICO charges...thank you for letting me know. By the way shaggy1, you mentioned having two cars on your plan with GEICO...your Camaro and your Silverado. Is the $47.00 / 6-months you pay for BOTH cars, or just ONE?

Thanks again for your information.
