In fact, I wish GM would bring back a version of the 1970 Chevelle SS.

That'd kick major ASS! You can do that dude. Buy a 70 chevelle and convert it to SS maybe? You have lots of options. You can def. find a a decent body, just keep your eyes peeled, Check Hemmings and dont just look at ebay. Racingjunk.com and several other sites may help you.

Check craiglist and newspapers in the desert southwest and you will find a second gen Chevelle. I'd do it up like the heavy Chevy with an LS engine, 6 speed manual trans, 12 bolt posi. Oh and that has already been done by one of the big builders and they called it their environmentally friendly 'green' chevelle. http://turbo.discovery.com/wrecks-to...episode-6.html

There were a lot of rumors back in 2010 that Chevy was going to do just that. I haven't checked out many of the Chevelle websites lately but that may be a fun read tonight.

It's shocking to me that no one has yet mentioned the 53 'vette.

To me that has always been Chevy's most iconic car.

Back in May I bought one for 38k.
It's a frame on resto, freshly built 396.
It is a matching #s, true ss with build sheet and protect o plate.
I don't have the space, patience, or no how to buy a piece of junk and turn it into my dream car. So I bought one already done.
Originally wanted a #s matching 454 untill I realized I'd have to sell my house in order to afford one.
Anyway moral of the story is while I was searching I came across a bunch of cheaper ones, but I would have had to put a little time and $ into them.

Keep lookin around, they're out there.

Oh yeah almost forgot.
69 Camaro is one bad a$$ car, but 70 Chevelle should have won. IMO

Well...the question is ...how does one define the word "BEST"? Now...the 57 Chevy is the most Iconic/classic. The Baddest (coolest) would have to be the 70 454 SS Chevelle followed closely by the 69 Camaro.

I think it would be difficult to make a modern version of the '70 Chevelle. The four headlights, grille, and rear design would be hard to make it look right.......and still stay true to the heritage.

Where are you looking, my man? You can get some damn nice Chevelles for decent prices if you look on websites such as autotraderclassic.com, carsonline.com, hemmings, and ebay motors. Granted, they won't usually be original, but they will look the part which is all that matters.

Here's one for 27k.

A cool silver one for 23k.

A decent clone for 20k even.

... and those are just at CarsOnline. If you want a good deal, usually you have to look out of state - simple solution, hire a classic car appraiser to look it over so you can have peace of mind, or go look at it yourself. Let me know if you have any luck!

'69 Camaro won? Congrats!

There's a reason why Dynacorn started reproducing "classic" bodies-in-white...and the 1st one?

Yuuup...'69 Camaro!
