Drago, I'm glad things are looking up!! I know being a guinea pig sucks but I have to say that I'm glad you took the bull by the horns. At least we know that we really do have a good product, it just needed some greasing to get the top rolling so to speak! Thanks for everything! You've been a great ambassador for us customers

So I spoke to the service manager at Starling today regarding what they did to finally "fix" my roof. Here's what I was told:

The top was incorrectly installed by the trim shop (can't entirely blame then as they were given a top in a box and a 4 month old car with no directions nor experience...) They basically had to remove the top and reinstall it, correctly. Something wasn't attached properly Which resulted in the sides blowing out as depicted in the OP. Also, the cables weren't tight enough. The attachment process and cables resulted in the excess wind noise. He said after the repair, my car was quieter than the 3 new on the lot!

In addition, he said they reworked the top brackets causing the rub marks and removed the rediculous tape that was applied last time. Supposedly they put some other insulation somewhere, it didn't jump out to me, so I don't know exactly what/where they did this. I definitely see more of a gap in the headliner bracket, leading me to believe they moved those brackets in more as well. All I know, is no rub marks yet!

The service manager has to do a detailed report on the problems and resolutions for GM, since they requested engineers to work on it. They said they'd send me a copy as well. If it looks helpful, I'll scan it and post it as well.

+1, it sold me.

Congrats, Drago - nice to see hard work pay off even though you shouldn't have had to do it. Enjoy your ride!

wow, I am about to approach my "rub"/ pressure marks issue :( I know the GM rep, and have no doubt in him getting these issues fixed for us vert owners.

My girlfriend bought a used saturn sky redline with 15k miles, and her top does this too and looks almost same as the pics and passenger side squeezes the convertable top and looks nasty, and i hear wind noise all the time as i drive, will this be covered under warranty for replacement? I want to get this fixed its annoying.

Our cars have had the tops replaced due to the infamous wear/rub marks. I immediately experienced severe wind noise and brought it back to the trim shop. They pointed to a rail/groove that attaches the top to the rear side of the frame (running down the back of the small side/rear window.) This rail had popped out of the groove/track. I watched the repairman pound it back into the groove. On the drive home, it came out again. I brought it back, 3 days later he said it was fixed. About a week later, during hwy driving, I noticed the whole side of my top "ballooning" out, as the rail had popped out and the top seperated from the frame. See pix below.

GM replaced the top again- advising the rail was ruined as it's supposed to "slide" into the groove and lock in place, not "push" into place-and it's all one piece with the top. Well, its happening again. See pics below- first is the day of discovery on the hwy- blowing open, second shows where to press. 3rd illustrates the "resting" gap, 4- pointing to the gap and another of the gap when the top is up, and 6, how it should look when snapped into place (notice the visible cable when popped out in pic #5)

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? For those with (and without) top replacements, please take a second to check this area on your car and see if, by pressing in on the outer edge of the top, where it meets the small rear window, is it's firmly attached, or if it "snaps" into the groove... this is trip #10 back to the service dept... I'm Fn' pi$$ed now!
Had my top replaced last Friday, the 21st and Saturday passenger side leaking like a siv at the front windshiled posr (they asy the gasket is bad) and yesterday picking car up at dealer, saw the exact same tning you show here. The dealer didn't install my top, a local upholstry shop was subbed. So we are now the BETA TEST OWNERS!

GM engineers repaired this issue for me- the top was installed incorrectly by the trim shop it was sublet too, after reinstalling it, they also tightened the cables that secure the top- its now just as good, if not better than new! Well, with the exception if the ever persistent rub/wear marks
