as for handling, let's not forget the 2012s have an upgraded FE4 suspension...

It's my car in question here guys, and to answer your concerns, yes, the axle backs are aftermarket. Pypes Pype Bombs muffler deletes to be exact.

So to be clear, the car in question is a 2012 GT, 5.0 with the manual 6 speed and 3.55 gears. The only mods are the axle back and a canned tune from VMP Tuning in Florida. On the day in question, we had a DA of -1150 at race time (temps in the low 40's) and the crew at MIR did a very good job with track prep. Here are my slips from that day, in order of time ran -

Ask any questions you might have, I'll do my best to answer them, but to answer the one that seems to be bothering most of you, yes, it's still breathing through the stock air box and paper filter and has an axleback system and a canned tune (dyno'd locally to verify a/f but not tweaked, yet).

Sorry, not buying it.
Yes, it does, with just that, and a driver that's been doing this for over 30 years. And yes, I was just as shocked as the rest of you when I saw the photos. Ford seems to have gotten it mostly right this time around. Now, if they'd just find a "real" transmission!

And to settle any concerns about the mods on this car, if anyone here is local to the Dallas/Fort Worth area, I'd be more than happy to meet up and show the car for what it is. I'm usually off Thursday through Saturday if anyone is interested.

They're already off the car, as I think they sounded terrible. Replaced by a set of Flowmasters. Still need to update the sig though, lest people think I get the big old heavy 19" wheels off the ground via my killer axleback system!

What's not to believe? It's not like I was yanking them a foot of the ground. Sticky tires, good track prep, an experienced driver (racing for 30 years now) and an old school live axle rear end that holds up to 3000+ rpm launches. And don't forget the axleback, that adds at least.......some power, I'm sure.

And again, if you're local to the Dallas Fort Worth area and would like to meet up and see the car and it's amazing lack of mods, just give me a shout. I like all cars, and am not brand biased at all. I've owned everything and then some over the past 30 years. If you're proud of your car, chances are I'll talk about it with you for hours and buy the first round or two.

30+ years and that inconsistent ? Low 12's on a tune and drag radial with a high RPM launch is average but 380-400 to the wheels should be netting 11.7 area and 116-118. Keep trying.

LOL all you want, the cars are pretty evenly matched. This road test by edmunds shows the camaro quicker in the 1/4, stopped shorter, ran the slalom faster and had a better skid pad. Whoed of thunk it ?

Haters gonna hate. LOL at you giving me advice. Wanna race? I'm sure I have more than enough to cover you.

Actually, looking at your sig, it appears that I'm faster than anything you own. Go figure.

So it must be true, I mean, it's in 1 semi important magazine. Right? Magazine articles are written for people who don't get out and find out for themselves.

Not hating, I have had a dozen mustangs and have one now in the garage next to the camaro, even looked real hard at a new 5.0. In case you didn't notice I didn't give advice, I was baffled at your wildly varying slips with so many years of experience but I think my expectations of quicker times is what really ruffled your feathers. I don't want none of that mustang.

Its not gospel that one or the other is better, only that any given day or driver they are pretty evenly matched. Its not always the car.

Your best 60' is 1.77 if I am reading these right and you are claiming that it pulls the front wheel......??

Really?

I wouldn't go that far. . . the 4v 5.4 in the GT500 has proven time and time again to be one of the most stout stock engines on the market. 1,000+hp on cars that have never cracked the valvecovers is fairly commonplace in those cars.
