GM missed something IMO

I've been studying the interior of the Camaro and I think I know why it is a love/hate relationship for some. I think it all comes down to the stereo design. It's an oddball shape and looks a little cheap IMO. So I had an idea that might help freshen it up on cars with acrylic interior panels (2SS/2LT). The stereo should have a matching face around the LCD screen, either built in to stereo or just an acrylic panel that adheres to it.

This is just a quick edit showing before and after, but you get the point...what do you think?

I like this idea, it blends in better.

I'm somewhat impartial because I'm getting the black interior, but I don't see any reason why the stereo should match the door panels or how that makes it look better. I'm not knockin' your idea, 1_2Many, just giving my opinion. Different tastes is exactly why the aftermarket thrives, so if you like it, go for it!!!

I played with the stereo and was impressed with the display and the way it scrolled quickly through stations. Don't think I'm going to need to look aftermarket. Unless we are tlalking sub-woofers and amps.

I don't believe the aftermarket is going to be able to do much in the head unit department since the radio is integrated into the HVAC controls.

What they missed was the 2X DIN international standard. But I hope that it will come in a year or two and the AC will go back to a 1 din type of fitting. I think this would be better suggestion and make it more attractive car for modders.

Of course they still sell the head unit and make some money just without that hole it's sad. I miss my radio hole. :(

I'll prob have to get one with the Boston when I do the Operation Vulture. (used buy)

The stereo is my main issue with the interior, it just looks unfinished...it's like they didn't quite know what to do so they just put the plexiglass panel over it. I'm hoping they finish it for the next model year when the vert comes out.

I like your idea - even if is just a perimeter strip that matches the rest of the stereo.

Your idea is ok. But, if you really want to change something inside the car, then what "EVERYONE" is going to want to change, (AND, I DO MEAN EVERYONE) is the sunvisiors. I love this car, BUT, it is what it is. Like or dislike it, it is what it is.

The sunvisiors are yet to be relized by many, but, everyone uses them and everyone will need them at some point. It will be a disapointment for all of us. I'm not sure how I'm going to change mine yet (until I get my car) but, it WILL be a required change. I've sat in the car and rode in the car (#1's SS/RS). You WILL see what I'm talking about no doubt.
Am I going to let this stop me from getting my long awaiting babe? Of course not!
But, I still don't like it, so, I will fix it like I want it.
CAMaro is not the only car that has this issue, BUT, IT IS WHAT IT IS!

Do I have other ideas of things to change to suit me? Yes! I really wanted the strips to be like the concept and go down to the mail slot, but it is what it is!

I will adjust things to suit me. I will own my Camaro. I'm not letting these "little things" affect me getting this car!

Darn, I hate the little sunvisors though!!!!!!
