Color match engine cover, Delay?

If this needs to be moved thats fine. I was wondering if this will cause i delay in production of my car. I thought I saw something yesterday about this being on delay with the hurst option. I haven't removed either as i am still 31st at my dealer and assume i have at best 2 or 3 months left to wait. I understand the hurst situation but the engine cover as I understand it was a dealer install option so not sure if that would cause a hold up since it has nothing to do with being made at the factory. Any info on this would be helpful.

I, too, ordered the engine cover and according to the 800#, my car has been produced. I have not received a VIN yet and have not heard from my dealer so not sure how accurate the GM people are.

From what I understand the colored engine cover will be done by the dealer, so there should be no delay

Dudes, if it doesn't make the Camaro go faster, dump the small stuff off of your orders, add all that useless junk later! Am I right?

I agree that in my opinion an engine cover is useless, as you can't see it unless you pop the hood. And who cares? But other stuff like leather interior, Boston speakers and polished wheels don't make the car go faster either, but are going in mine. But some people will pay extra for the engine cover- that's OK- I'd rather put the extra money in my retirement account.

But that's just my opinion- obviously other people like a lot of those options on their cars.

Every car show/cruise you go to you see a vast majority of the cars have their hoods up. Whenever your buddy comes over to see your car, one of the first things you do is open the hood. So ya, I think its nice to have a painted engine cover. Costs more money, but it adds to the WOW! factor. To each his own.

To answer your question, jpsuperman81, (versus interjecting an unasked for opinion on the option) - NO, there is no constraint on the engine cover, so it will not hold up your order whatsoever. Constraint reports are broadcast weekly on Thursday. The engine cover has not been on any to date, although that's not to say it won't appear this week. CamaroScotty always reports the constraints, so keep an eye out for his thread each Thursday A.M.

The cover is a GMPP part, and it is installed at the dealer. You can buy it from Camaro Scotty cheaper and install it yourself later. Its just a few bolts that hold it on.

As if I'm gonna still be alive with this car intact for it to show up in the Barrett Jackson auction 50 years from now! The only reason the Yenko Camaro's etc. are drawing such big dollars is because there were so few of them made, and so many of them got wrecked etc. through the years. Back in those days few people even thought about the car having lots of value later on and treated them accordingly.
We're talking about a mass produced car here that everybody is ordering, and that lots of people are saving for future value to a generation that won't have the money to spend on such items anyway. Having a $250 piece of dealer installed plastic on the window sticker or not is'nt going to matter much if you don't have VIN #0001.
Did you see the limited production older corvettes with low/no miles at Barrett Jackson this year that were not even selling for window sticker price? The owner's lost money on those cars. There were a lot less of them in their total run made than loaded Camaros that have already been ordered. How about the 2007 Z06 Vette with 230 miles that sold for $50,000? Or the silver anniversary edition 78 Vette that went last year for darn near sticker price with zero miles on the odometer, original plastic on the seats etc?
The only way these cars will ever make you rich is if GM closes all their doors in the next two months and you stare at your car in heated storage while the tires rot for 50 years.
Its just that the "good old days" of keeping your hot rod alive and it being worth big bucks later are pretty much over. Too many people have turned into collectors and the result is that the market is saturated with future collectible cars. Many people will keep these cars in perfect atmospheric conditions (mine stays in a heated garage too), todays paints will last longer, and the bodies are better protected from rust. And the thousands of baby boomers who made big bucks owning their own companies are falling by the wayside too while the market gets flooded with their collections.
Its sad, but true. So just drive and enjoy the car and don't lose sleep over whether the hurst shifter or a piece of plastic shows up on the window sticker or not. Its only worth bragging rights at a car show (but yes, that is kinda cool to be able to do).

I would take it off and put some braided covers on the heater hoses.

I like the way it looks nekkid.

If you order a silver car and get the painted engine cover option, do you get a different color on the engine cover than what is standard for all cars?
