And to make a smooth back end is also more expensive than adding a bit to the back. So if the Camaro was to have a bumper that looks the same as those others (ie, not visible) then it would cost far more than they would.

Completely agree on the overhanging lip from the trunk lid. That opening on the concept was way too small. I'll agree that it's been extended down a bit to allow for a larger opening. And, since I really am ready for a trunk, I'd like to be able to USE IT.

TAG this is for you (and everyone else of course)

http://youtube.com/watch?v=tupKJ8wfy_o&feature=related

For those who know how to imbed...go ahead, not that talented myself!

Pretty cool vid about the production and spy photos.

Most interesting to me is 1:32 secs in that shows the RIGHT side of the pre-production white car. NO gas cap on the right side. Even with Bras on I don't see an edge of one...and with those wheels I believe this is the V-8. (please feel free to correct me.) Could be the 10 liter version Plus, this is a pic I had not seen and it shows the camaro very well. I can honestly say that this pic to me is the closest to being like the concept that I have seen. This car is amazing

I would like to see the gas cap on top if I had a vote...but hey, this machine is beautiful either way!!!

Awsome video, but really needs music. I didn't see anything either. Sure it's gonna be there, but you never know.

Just a thought...This thread is amazing. 328 posts mostly about the gas cap...a little ol' gas cap. That shows what one little detail can say about the car. I see those bullit milled on the side, and to me isn't the same. It stands out on top. Different from the others. Maybe GM has made this an option on the right side...maybe not. Maybe on the top of the line?

This thread (just looking at the most recent threads) has more replies than ANY except for photoshop requests! Makes you go Hmmmmmm. For a little ol' REALLY COOL gas cap.

Either way, still an amazing car...lovin' every minute of it!

Your right the gas cap is one of the things that makes the camaro unique, on top is a bold statement, but on the side makes it more of a normal body style, the gas cap should stay on top i think.

Absolutely. However I believe that the c-pillar has pushed the gas cap off the top though. If they kept it on top, it would look corny because given the amount of space on the rear quarter; it'd be right on the tip next to the trunk. But... I guess it could be worst-- Being pinned on the side of the car is better than it being hidden behind the old "spring loaded" license plate holder.

I just hope they don't keep those terrible headlamps. Looks like that one character from lilo & stitch. I don't know why they had to go to auto zone for head lights, just make another batch of concept head lights.

That issue was addressed within the first 10 posts on this thread. Yes its ugly, but it doesnt matter as long as you don't live in Australia. In that case, you simply don't have a choice.

That explanation made so much sense to me that I believed it at first too but the other day I compared them in the computer and the concept car and the production car are nearly identical in that area.... the c-pillar touchdown didn't move and there is the same amount of room for the gas cap in the same location. I guess you're going to just have to believe Scott's explanation instead. (it sure does look flatter in that picture though... it must be the angle and the white paint.... the good news it that you're getting the huge roof-to-body offset that you fell in love with at the autoshow!) (oh, and concept car headlights don't really work on the street either..... they don't put out much light and if they do for more than a few minutes they melt.... you have to test real cars with real headlights)

Hmm, could be the angle and or paint... I've heard, "problems with the fuel tank and collisions" could be the reason for a side install too. But really all your doing is keeping the filler opening in the same vicinity-- just tilting it 70-80 deg. Don't see how that's any safer... Whatever, just thought it was very cool on the concept and would like to see it stay.

one thing that i noticed recently with the challengers fuel cap is that it is in the same location as the fuel door on the charger and magnum, but they used a nifty cap instead. I thought it should be mentioned while talking about the fuel door issue on the Camaro

I couldn't see problems with the fuel tank location in a collision as a problem. If you look at the Bentley Continental GT and the Lamborghini Gallardo you find the gas door in relatively the same location as the Camaro concept. I know these are relatively limited production vehicles, however if they can get by safety standards and sell their vehicles in North America, then I don't see why Camaro couldn't do the same (even if it is worth a fraction of the price).
