Let's talk traction

Yesterday I got a run in with a buddy (tuned 2012 m3) and he pulled about 5-6 cars on me from 1st to 2nd. 3rd I came by him standing still and once I hit 4th I had probably 3-4-5-6 buses. Not sure but massacred him.

I'm on stock 21s. I know I gotta downgrade to some 20s maybe even 19s. Throw on some nittos. But what else will help me traction wise? I'm going to buy me a set of 1400hp axles for sure, but what else exactly will help me plant my power. The car is going sideways NASTILY in 1st and 2nd, I can't even give it half throttle to be honest. My setup is in my sig and the car STILL isn't tuned properly. I have some more timing to give and the AFR is still at 11.0 at WOT so I'm expecting even more power.

Yes Yes Yes.

But exactly WHAT in the suspension? Who are the best guys to go to? What exactly do I need. etc.

I want to maintain 20s on tire because the car is still a DD until my srt10 truck gets here anyway. And that car already has the bottle waiting for it so I'm going to have to buy tires in excessive quantities for these two cars.

Cradle, differential, trailing arm, and toe rod bushings will prevent deflection in the rear.
Wider wheels with a sticky 305 or 315, the smaller the diameter wheel the better.
Whats your alignment like?

You're never going to have great traction on the street with that power level but you can improve it somewhat.

This. I did all of those suspension mods last week and I put 315's on the rear the day I bought the car. All of it makes a night and day difference

Awesome.

Do you guys recommend any company in particular to go to? I like buying stuff in a pack just all at once.

Sadly I know little to nothing on suspension and am versed very poorly. I read like a mofo about engine and what not but when it comes to suspension I don't seem to have the enthusiasm to actually read up.

Pfadt or BMR if you want it all from one source. Hotchkis doesn't have all of those bushings and Pedders doesn't do trailing/toe. But realistically those items don't need to be from the same company if you don't want to. Springs/sways are optimized together but everything else, a bushing is a bushing.

  1. Trailing Arms
  2. Toe Rods
  3. Cradle Bushings
These are your key components to help get the car off the line with minimal wheelhop. There are other components as well that will reduce movement in the rest of the suspension but the parts shown above are the most important.

Trailing Arms:

Toe Rods:

Cradle Bushings:
