^you know what I mean... you don't NEED it, why pay THREE THOUSAND extra dollars for it when you're sitting on a car full of features and 650hp?

I do know why people on here will keep adding it to the base price in arguments though...

you don't "Need" 650hp either...
Everything is arguable.

I'd have to assume same price as 2012 model. Unless for some reason they make some big changes?

Unless you happen to roll up on a ZL1, or anyone else wanting to play... I would say it's a pretty nice feature to have then, wouldn't you?...

Base ZL1, you get a more advanced suspension and coolers.

GT500, you get a way more powerful/stronger engine.

Bottom line, everyone keeps saying in base form the Shelby you have to add options to be equivalent to the ZL1. Well where is the option to make the ZL1 equivalent to the Shelby's 650HP?

Both cars have their advantages in base trim. Im just glad there is one less thing we have to speculate about...
Well said, and that was exactly what I was trying to get across to a friend of mine. Some people refuse to look at both sides of the coin and choose to see things as they want to see them.

lol that doesn't sound like a savvy shopper, you can buy a daily driver with the extra 3 grand for petes sake.

Bottom line is a base gt500 won't be slower than a PP GT500, other stuff is just as it's name implies *options*
It would be good to know the car can handle a higher level abuse than I would give it. So anything I do would not be stressing the car. Plus if I ever get that itch to race it the car is ready to go. A lot harder and more expensive to do all this after the fact.

However, unless the 650 horsepower translates to usable performance, it's simply a number used for bragging rights. One will have to wait for the GT500 performance tests on the track to determine how usable the GT500's 650 horsepower truly is. The ZL1's standard suspension and coolers do add usable performance improvements which have been displayed on the track.

in the car and driver article it said that the GT500 hooked very well with the winter tires on and w/ the launch control.

"With the Pirelli winter tires on the rear, on a chilly day and on rather porous asphalt, the launch control worked best at lower rpm. At 3000 rpm, the engine seemed to bog a bit; and at 4000, there was a little too much wheelspin.  At 3500 rpm, it was just right. Hit the launch-control button (to the left of the steering wheel, with the adjustable damper control), floor the accelerator, and dump the clutch—the Shelby does the rest.

Before you ask, yes, Martindale has tried it with slicks in back, and, yes, it jumps off the line like John Force heading to the free buffet. Surprisingly, though, Martindale says that, properly heated by a good burnout, the stock Goodyears nearly match the slicks’ launch traction."

Let's just admit they're both some bad ass cars. Hats off to Chevy and Ford for pushing the envelope. While not affordable to me, these are reasonably priced vehicles for the goodies you get.

Forgive my lack of knowledge but is the GT500 live axle or IRS now?
