Powder coated hood and fenders = no more rock chips
I just wanted to share this with my Camaro 5 cousins:
Here is the finished results. The attached photos is just the powder coated layer.

that looks really good. Two questions. A) how much did that cost and B) where the hell did you find an oven big enough for that thing

It was $400 for the hood and fenders.
Lots of industrial powder coating places have ovens big enough to house a car. There was a guy that races his 993TT and he got tired of the rock chips. Since he was going to create a dedicated race car with the full cage he took the car apart and had them powder coat the entire unibody and frame. I wish I took pics. It was awesome.

What's nice about the powder coated base layer instead of primer paint is that it's adheres much better to the metal. After It's painted over with the final coat/layers I dun need to use clear bra/armour (which i used just for the mirrors and front bumper cover).

They have all sorts of colors.
As you can imagine the colors aren't a 100% match. So the idea is that you get the closest matching color to your final paint color choice. this way if the rock were to chip the paint off and expose the powder coated layer, it will be so close in matching the color that visually it's very hard to see. The other nice thing about powder is that the paint seems to stick to it better than primer.
