Thread size for shifter knob

I have a Hurst short-throw shifter and want to swap out my stock knob for a Hurst T handle. Does anyone know the thread size or how I would determine? They make adapter kits, but if i can get the exact fit, i'd prefer to do that.

do you have the OEM Hurst shifter? If you have the OEM Hurst you can't switch the knob. As it isn't threaded. The stock shifter is just pushed on.

Ahhh; you are correct Steiger. I forgot about reading the posts on how to remove the OEM knob (being careful not to hit myself in the head).
So let me ask you this, if the OEM just pulls off, I guess i need the adaptor kit afterall?

Would it be easier to buy an adapter kit? Yes

Do you have to buy an adapter kit? No.

This threads is a DIY on adding threads to your stock shifter.
