Gotcha!! That is insane for that blower!! Thats y i find it hard to believe claims of 700rwhp with the ZL1's 1.9L.

The GT500 is faster in straight line race against the ZL1. It's a dead horse. Roadcourse next.

As much as LOVE the look of the ZL1, I'm dissapointed as hell in its stock straight-line performance. I could "settle" for the look of the Shelby as long as it solidly runs in the 11's, but I won't "settle" for a ZL1 that struggles to even get into the low 12's...even if it does look MUCH better in my opinion. Unless the ZL1 were to magically (or should I say miraculously?) get a bump of 100hp or more from GM, I don't see one in my future :(. I'm waiting a bit longer to see how the C7 Corvette looks (without the camo) and performs before I make my final decision, but more than likely my next vehicle will either be a low mileage C6 Z06 or a new Shelby.

I have no doubt as to whether it was true or not. I only pointed out it wasn't ran in ATL yesterday with the environment they dealt with. We don't know (at this time) what the conditions were when the car ran the 11.52,as far as DA,temps, etc. And you are correct.....the thing is a beast. |

Ford Racing sells a TVS kit that makes about 11psi for the 07-09 GT500. It comes with a very safe tune from Ford. It put down 605rwhp according to this article. http://www.musclemustangfastfords.co...r/viewall.html They also make a 660hp kit for the 2010 GT500. I believe it's the same boost but with a little more aggressive tune since the 2010 has knock sensors. If the TVS can make 600rwhp on a 5.4 with 11psi, imagine what it can make on a 5.8 with 15psi. |

Research trumps brash disrespect. Id suggest you channel anger to the pr and marketing department that keeps running the zl1 program through the mud by sticking to the stock tires 1.60 60ft 11.90's claim. It's shamefully and completely rude to the zl1 engineers who have made an incredible car that is then subject to prejudice that is caused by boastful public relations teams that these engineers have 0 control over. That to me is a definite insult to the intelligent hard workers behind the zl1 and requisitely worthy of contempt. Thanks for the rude post and good day.

This is about on point. So far the best 1/4 mile for the Shelby is 11.8/11.5 and the best for the ZL1 is 11.9. None of these times have been recorded yet but I believe them. The only time it would be a drives race is if a Auto ZL1 lines up against a Shelby with a driver that is not so good at shifting. Lets get some of these 1/4 mile times on video and move on to the road course. I think it should be a track in America that neither car has run before. |

But this is simply speculation based on the awesome time they posted at nurburgring. There have been pictures of the 2013 shelby at nurburgring, but no times were release. Wonder why? Also, to have either car in an official race requires special safety equipment such as a fuel cell. Which is why it may take a while before you see the ZL1 there. Although they could probably race there in some private event without the special equipment. |
