The aftermarket needs to step up. There was a time when the Hurst name was something that you could depend on.

The bushings used in at least the early Camaro Hurst Shifters are not sufficient.

The harder you shift, the quicker it will wear out and get sloppy.

Hurst needs to produce the proper bushing replacement and get it to all of us.

We shouldn't be relying on a forum member to solve the Hurst issue.

Call Barton, their shifters are better engineered and have adequate bushings.

Very well said The main problem for me is that I paid almost $400 for my shifter when they first came out! Now they're as cheap as 169! And I thought about getting a Barton but that would just be another $300 bucks more so I'm getting the replacement bushing from NH-SS and that should solve this issue

I've been trying for 3 weeks to contact Hurst but they dont answer the phone and I've left 3 messages and they don't call back either But then again I've gotten bushings several times already so they probably recognize my phone # already so they dont wanna answer

These are the 2 numbers I have for Hurst: 818-483-1366 and 1-800-544-4761. I will try this 707 # now and see what happens

I have some great news everyone!!! I recieved a call today from a gentleman by the name of Kenji Takahashi who happens too be the vp of engineering at Hurst. Kenji and I talked in length about the issue and were on the phone for almost an hr he also mentioned that they have been moving so things have been pretty hectic wich may explain why some of us have been unable too reach them. I can assure you that a fix is in the works. I am not at liberty to say what it is but i can assure u that it is being worked on. I can tell you that he is one hell of a guy and is doing everything he can so hang in there guys!!! Kenji will be posting here soon with more details and ty all for keeping this poll going.

We are working on several solutions at the moment. As I mentioned to MustangKiller, a good portion of customers don't have a problem and probably will never have a problem. However, this is still not acceptable to the guys that do have a problem. At the moment we are exploring several options that are being created and going through validation. Our ultimate goal is to provide a solution that has no adverse side effects (mainly increased NVH). In addition, all of the solutions will be "retro-fitable" meaning the new bushings will work with your current shifter. I can't get into too many details as several of our improvement theories have yet to be lab/field verified and validated. But we are hoping to have something low to no cost as well as possibly an "extreme duty" race version bushing set as well.

personally, I'd happily take increased NVH over slop in the shifter. After 10k with the Billet Plus 2 I've got over an inch of play now and will probably have to replace the bushing soon.

Got any photos of the worn out bushings and a new one?

Mine is tight, but it is still pretty new.

OK guys take a look at the bottom of the shifter you will also find lots of play on the roll pin on the spline shaft. I just replaced my hurst shifter with a mgw shifter.. worth every penny. it's the best shifter out their.
