Rally stripes should I have them painted ?
So the stripes on my car were shot. The dealer agreed to replace them under warranty so they ordered new ones they were originally red so thats what they ordered. I didn't want red so they agreed to pay for the install and I will supply the stripes in the color I want, and keeping the red ones for future. I bring my car and the stripes to the body shop for the install. one of the new stripes has a crease that wont come out and another one was so badly creased it had to be removed. Anyways my question is and I'm looking for opinions should I just have the dam things painted on? I have a black ss and I am doing flat black rallys

agreed, but I was set on a certain set up and then a new stripe kit came out, and I'm so happy that I didn't get my car painted because I just changed out the stripes and put on a different set.
You get better looking and durability if you paint, but you can convenience of being able to change the look with vinyl.

I think I'm gonna go with painted. Meeting at the body shop in the a.m. to see what it will cost. Any ideas on prices?

if you're doing flat black stripes, and dead set on it, definitely paint them on.
If you have any slight doubt, don't paint them on. Flat black is the kinda love or hate thing. I personally plan to throw flat black stuff all over my camaro.

I painted my rally stripes nd love it but I did all clear on top not flat, if u do go wit flat painted it's gunna b hard to level off the clear where it meets the flat black, so it's gunna look "funny" guess that's in the eye of the beholder but jus givin u aheads up

The original stripes were vinyl, and the warranty covered the replacement of those. That's the reason the dealer installed the stripes in the color you wanted and gave you the red ones to keep. Warranty, however, is not going to pay to have new stripes painted on. Since the dealer screwed up the installation of the replacement warranty vinyl stripes, they should at least cut you a deal on painting new stripes. The nice thing about vinyl stripes is, if you don't like the "look", they can be easily removed. With painted stripes, you don't have that option. Here's my black Camaro with factory CGM vinyl stripes. |

Definitely a big no for me(personal preference) . I seen a few different styles of stripes and I like knowing that at anytime I can swap mine out. Also I might be looking into different hoods and certain hoods don't look good with certain style of stripes, so I definitely don't want them to be painted on. But that's just me...
