Original 68 RS/SS Exhaust

Hello. I found this forum and it seems to be a great place for some G1 discussions.
I was hoping someone here might be able to help me out with something.

I was digging through the attic above my garage and found a pair of original 1968 RS/SS exhaust pipes. My father in law lived in the house growing up and bought the car brand new. I think he special ordered it to be honest. He sold it in 1975 the night before his wedding. I think he's kicking himself now though. He removed the exhaust pipes within weeks of getting the car and put them up there. They haven't seen the light of day for 44 years. I pulled them down and other then some surface rust, they are solid.

Is there a market for these? Now everyone does stainless systems, so i wasn't sure if there was any desire to have a set.

And any thought on what they might be worth?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Probably not worth much unfortunately. Advertise them on Craigslist for a few bucks and see what happens.

Hi, Can you tell me what you are looking to get for the set? I have a 68 SS/RS and might be able use these on my ex system. Thanks, Fred

correct manifolds are worth good money to the right person, because they will have the proper stampings, but those pipes aren't really worth anything much.

There is nothing on an exhaust pipe that defines it as an original OEM part, so it doesn't really have any value.

If they were mint (no rust or scaling), maybe they would have value to someone, only because they wouldn't have to buy new, but as they stand now, shipping costs would be higher than the parts are worth

Good luck with them anyway

There's someone that could use them for an original restoration. Post them up on where the rest of the 1st gen guys hang out.
