CAI intake cover came unglued

Had issues with my Camaro tonight (different thread), anyway popped open the hood and noticed that the CAI cover had came off and was resting on the filter.

Not sure when this happened, is this a known issue?

I am emailed the Jannetty also (who I bought it from), but wanted to check here also.

There were a few of them that did that when they first came out. Haven't seen it posted in a while though.

local guy had that happen here. i would get some stronger glue and do it yourself. if they send another one, good chance it'll happen again, unless they have stronger stuff now.

It happens from time to time. Not unheard of but not uncommon. They are attached with 3M adhesive. Like aSSain said, I would just reattach it with something stronger.

They use glue now? I got mine in Feb 2010 and it was attached with doubleback tape. I replaced the glass last spring with a custom piece and had a hell of a time getting the original glass loose. The one I replaced I attached with the 3M white foam double back tape, like you put up posters with. Haven't had any issues at all in a year and a half. Whatever you use, just make sure all the surfaces are clean and dry. Doesn't hurt to use some adhesion promoter as well.

Jannetty emailed CAI Inc, I guess I will wait for a response, otherwise I will get some glue or tape as suggested.

Thanks all!

If the double-sided tape isn't dirty,
Get the car and CAI good and hot (doesn't take that long).
Removed the lid and plexiglass
Quickly but gently wipe off any dirt from the plexiglass
Flip the lid over on a flat surface
Set the plexiglass into place
Tightly press into place around the borders.

Most of the time this will "set" the plexiglass. Happened to me a looong time ago.

Jannetty has already been in contact with us and we are sending you out the replacement glass with a new and improved adhesive that we switched over to some time ago.

Judging by the photo which shows our original badging before we even had a trademarked logo, I would say you have one of the very first Camaro units we built. Since then we switched to a different double sided adhesive which is much strongerr and has better heat handling specs. When you get the new glass, just clean off and dry the lid where the old one was, stick on the new one and you are good to go!

Mine fell off twice two years ago. I let them know, but they did not send a replacement anything. I used some super glue and some duct tape. Has not fell off since. You gotta love super glue and duct tape.
