Thank you for sharing that
The basic realistic reason to not ride any kind of motorcycle at all is shown below:
Quote:
Driving anywhere on any highway is basically a lethal choice. It is not just because someone drank alcohol. It's because they are tired. They stay up all night watching TV. It can be any reason. The average person on the street always looks extremely exhausted like they didn't sleep all week long. Maybe they have a baby, and the baby kept them up all night. It can be anything. Thus, drive the biggest most burly vehicle that you can. Have a gigantic buffer space in front of your car, and along the sides of your car. Seek out and look for anyone driving way, way too fast, then slow down and get away from them. Be prepared to stop since an accident is very likely to take place just a few hundred feet in front of your car (or motorcycle). This happens daily where I live. There is no escape here. We have mega-accidents. All I see are people sitting on the side of the road exchanging car insurance, and many occasions one of the cars is upside down. The drivers in these accidents do typically look between 18 and 30. I rarely see someone who looks older standing around next to an upside down car, but I'm sure it does happen.

I never could understand why states that allow you to ride your motocycle with no helmet also require you to wear seatbelts.

makes no difference in a car or on a bike, people are morons, and they drive like morons, hot rodding from light to light, traveling 20,30,40 mph over the posted limits, running red lights, etc. I see it every day as well, around where I work in Los Angeles might be similar to your area, a lot of people with no licenses because they have no legal right to be here. They can't drive, they have no insurance, and they use their vehicles like a 2 ton weapon, cutting people off, changing lanes into them, etc., car or bike won't matter, I have been the victim of pretty bad accidents in/on both.. it comes down to being on me to police what everyone else is doing to protect myself. In the case of my motorcycle accident I can honestly say I do not remember seeing that SUV coming at me, which means I wasn't doing my job and paying attention to my surroundings, had I been a tad more alert the accident might not have happened.. bottom line is you cannot expect anyone else to see you regardless of what you drive, you have to be proactive and anticipate what everyone else is going to do.

In Utah there is no helmet law for riders 18+ years of age, but if you are younger than 18 you are required by law to have a helmet on a motorcycle.
I ride a sportbike and I wear a full-faced helmet all the time. A matter of fact, I ride ATGATT. It may suck when it gets hot here, but at least if I go down I'm protected.

Texas and no helmet laws. Always wear a full face, leather jacket and gloves. Almost always wear earplugs.

![]() Same should go with seatbelts too! My sister got in a really bad accident over 20 years ago. If she would've been wearing her seatbelt, she would have been killed. |

It's an amazing helmet. I bought that for $600, I have a black Scorpion FF that was $200, and an old school RSD 3/4 helmet for the really hot summer days that was less than $100.
The Bell Star with WWII fighter/bomber graphics is my favorite. Very lightweight, visor rarely fogs up and you can crack an opening with a flip of a switch to relieve that in the cold, Trimatrix composite shell (motogp spec.), very effective ventilation system, warm in the winter, contour cut cheek pads, and Bell will custom fit any helmet. Clickity Clack!!! I use a Dark Smoke visor for the day and HD yellow for the night. ![]() ![]() ![]() My backup Scorpion EXO-700 and they lowered the price even more. Clicky!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() RSD 3/4 custom 500 grand National. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Like Ruby said just wear 'em folks!

Not saying do or don't its your life.
But in the 80's I had a buddy hit the pavement at about 35mph the right side of his face would have been chewed off by the pavement. Instead the full face helmet was gnawed up. So still as ugly as the day I met him.

I don't ride, but if I did I'd wear a helmet... Managing head injuries from patients that were in a motorcycle collision without a helmet is much more difficult than those who wore a helmet.
