Of course, but it' s still built and owned by an American car company . A jap car built in America is still a jap car for the same reason.

So let me get this straight.. an American company moving jobs out of the country is better than a foreign company creating jobs here? Ok then.

I wouldn't take one of those over a Camaro but to each their own.

Know someone who leased for 16 yrs, fell got hurt, couldn't pay the lease,
had to give the car back ended up with nothing.....Nothing.
Paid for cars for 16 yrs and nothing to drive?
They might as well call it a Rent a car option.

Hyundais, like leases, are alike. They always look good on paper and upfront, and always are a bad idea in the end.

OP, you've been a good sport with the comments, but I would have to offer some serious advice and agree with many others here on leasing. A lease is the single most expensive way to obtain a car. The initial payments may be lower than buying, but unlike with buying, equity is never built, so the payments never end, so in the long run, you end up paying much more than you would if you just bought the car.

Even if you do trade up every 3 years, the lease will still be more expensive than buying. When you buy and trade in, you pay depreciation. When you lease, you pay the same depreciation plus a healthy profit to the lease company on top of that.

The Genesis Coupe is a nice car but it's not for everyone. It's just like the Camaro.....not for everyone. We all have our different tastes in cars.
I'm not sure on your decision to lease the car though. Like other people have said, leasing is the most expensive way to pay for a car. The buyer never wins in a lease.

If you own your own company, leasing is not nearly as bad of a deal. You can write off every penny of the lease payments (assuming you have another car to drive for personal use), as well as gas, maintenance, etc. Plus your car is always under warranty.

If you purchase a vehicle, you can only depreciate the value and take a tax deduction for about 4-5 years (depending on how you calculate the depreciation). But you are still responsible for paying for the entire vehicle-and payments themselves are not deductible.

So while for most folks, leasing is a bad deal....business owners don't do too bad!

Where did I say it was better? The statement was which is and isn't American.

At least that won't leave you on the side of the road broken down. I don't see what bad the OP did and why everyone is knocking him. I went from a camaro to a mini and a hemi powered ram and haven't looked back. Haven't been stuck on the side of the road either. And a camaro is no longer an American icon. The car has nothing to do with America til it's done being built and sold at dealers. Only big wigs get money from the camaro. At least the Japanese cars give American workers jobs. A lot of Americans can provide for their families thanks to car makers from across the pond. GM can't say that because their junk is built in Canada and Mexico.

In bashing the op everyone completely missed that this guy thought the genesis is a 6 gen Camaro... Lol
