I want a R8, can want and afford a Camaro. Price/performance ratio is better with an American car of any make. I'm happy so that's all I care about. I don't need to apologize or rationalize for what I have. If they can get better then more power to them I say.

That 14 y/o is almost certainly reflecting the views of his parents and his own experiences riding in their cars. It's the influence of his environment, and everything not in it is "other people's stuff, we don't buy it" and generally looked down upon even if there is no real basis for doing so.
We're all like that at that age, at least to some degree and until we start thinking a little more independently. Norm |
