I would like "none of the above" to be added and here's why...

Yesterday (4/16/08) fbodfather clarified this situation with no more room for guessing -

He said:

"My quote about "forget all you know about engines" -- is very misunderstood and I need to clarify.......

I made that statement when people thought we'd put an LS2 or a Z06 engine in the Camaro...........my point was: The LS2 is an old engine -- we have new stuff that you haven't heard about ---(remember -- this quote was a while ago!) --

I was NOT referring to Turbo Charged 4 cylinder engines!!!!!!!

I am a V8 guy -- I am NOT trying to sell you on a perspective............other than:

>Camaro will be class leading

>It will be a car you can be proud to own................."

http://camaro5.com/forums/showpost.p...7&postcount=24

My vote: Small block V8 with 400hp or more and 6 speed Tremec available.

We cannot guess the engine RPO, because it's a new engine that does not currently exist in documentation.

I'll take one, please!

I'm not a big fan of forced induction out of the factory. I'd rather take the second tier, non-supercharged model, assuming a supercharged model is made at all.

There is no indication that a higher model will exist any time after production.

^^^^^^ i'm with u blur. no FI here. as for my vote, i guessed supercharged ls3, even though i wouldn't like it. although i would like to change the ss there to a z/28. personally, if i had it my way, the setup would be something like this:
camaroI v6 300hp
rs:appearance package addition
ss:l76 400hp
z/28:special suspension, brembos, and factory tuned l76 430-50hp

i don't think i've ever seen this one before, so why not? oh yeah, and through in DI, flexfuel, and maybe even AFM???(w/ an off button, i know my foot does it, but i wouldn't want any lag or weak exhaust at the stoplight!)

No lag. All 8 cylinders are on during low speeds, and stops.

Most accurate thing to me seems to be SS with LSA (Super Charged) – 550 +hp

My guess is SS is the top dog with the LSA(maybe other LS* engine and n/a from the factory) 550hp, with the Z28 being a handling package with good hp numbers and the RS being an appearance package. Cant wait to see the actual results, and im sure none of us can!

Also, AFM cuts off on the next possible cylinder repetition. No human being can feel the difference between 1 repetition and the next, and there are multiple thousands of these repetition during acceleration. The lag would be so negligible that no human would be able to tell.

This isn't necessarily what I think will happen, just what I'd do if I was the Benevolent Dictator at GM:

I'd have the SS is the V8 trim, but the top dog would be the Z28. I'd make Chevy's "Z" cars like BMW's M, Mercedes' AMG, and Cadillac's V. SS's would be fast, sure, but the Z cars would be true purpose built streetable race machines.

Are you saying that as the ZR1 is to Corvette, That Z/28 should be to Camaro?

Just because of the Z in the name? Just clarifying!
