What is this???

Hey guys. My Camaro has been garaged since December and has less than 200 miles on it currently.

I drove it possibly 3 times over a 4 month period and notice these marks on the side near the all four corners of the car near the tires.

Does anyone know what these are? They appear to be rubber like material. I washed the car just now and I didn't want to apply too much pressure on these to remove them. But there are streaks everywhere, like dirt marks when you go off-roading but are rubbery like.

Any ideas and any suggestions on how to remove them safely without harming the paint?

They are pretty tough to scrape off. I was hoping that if i just wash the car, those things would just fall off... but it didnt seem that simple.

Im thinking these are the burnt treads from the tire (those spiky little things found on new tires) and that have stuck to the fender.

Will WD-40 work?

From the pics it looks what you get when you run over newly painted white lines on the roadway.

Its black though. The flash on the camera makes it appear white -.-

But I think tar remover or WD-40 should work then.... hopefully. Or as one suggested, goo be gone or something.

You probly drove over some fresh asphalt that was sealed with and applied over a liquid called emulsion........not tar, as tar hardens quicker emulsion does not and stays liquid until it is heated and the asphalts heat being at 350 degrees sets it to harden....this is also the common material for lots of road work you do not have to keep it as warm as heated tar..and lines trench patches with it usually coated over the top with sand immediately afterward to stop people from getting it on their car....

Arrow Try...

...100% pure acetone from True Value...

After cleaning... wash with mild soap, rinse, apply carnauba wax & then use an acrylic polymer to finish.

Rubber won't stick the next time.

Won't acetone strip the paint off the car? It is bad enough as it is..

I just bought one those Turtle Wax Bug and Tar remover...

tried it on an area soon as I got home. Its not dissolving... but I am able to remove bits of it if I apply enough pressure and possibly use my fingernail to scrape it off.

This will be a painful task tomorrow when I try to get all of them off.

I dont think its tar though, but some sort of rubber for sure. But its weird that its like water streak marks.
