Yeah, I know for sure they could back out at any time. I'm just hoping nothing happens with my car.

My dealership said no promblem, Came in for oil change showed the sevice manager my diablosport trinity t 1000 tuner with guage layouts and all the guys loved it, 25 yr mechanic said not alot of tunes caused any warranty problems. Diablosport and SCT state that there tunes do not show up on the CVN its the way they flash the comuter. So its a fine line, even just a hand tuner wakes these cars up. GETTING ROTOFAB CAI THEY SAID THATS OK TO.

Gotta love it. People will tune their car then return their tune back to stock before service yet expect the dealer to be honest...kind of hypocritical. People need to understand GM is covering their own ass with the ECM logging because of dishonest customers.

I think of it this way.

If I build a car tuned to a specific detail, then sell it and promise to fix it incase it screws up. Then someone changes the tune and expects me to fix a problem with say, the engine, then no... I wouldn't fix it for free either. So I understand where they come from.

I really apologise as I am sure it's been answered before. But power and torque wise, what's the best, best CAI for the ZL1?

Thank you so much and please, please no flames. Thank you
I wanted to say one should never have to worry about asking any question about there car. This forum is full of people with a love of there cars and will explain in detail what they know about there cars.I have learned so much on this forum. There is not a dumb question as much as not asking a question in the first place.lol the others do not pay any attn.too.
Take care and enjoy your ZL1

They will be able to give you the exact date and time you flashed tue ecu, just letting you know.

If you do a cold air intake then u need the 'no tune' rotofab cause every other one requires a tune.

To get around that, one shop told me that people are buying backup ECM's and using those for the tune. Then when they need to take the car into the shop they simply put the stock one back in.

That is not possible. The mileage wouldn't match up for one. The new PCM would need to be programmed by a dealer so GM would know you have a new PCM as well.

Actually the shop is part of the dealership. I am not sure if there is a way to get around the mileage or not. I was considering putting headers on but did not want to void the warranty(which it would obviously do). He stated that as long as I brought the car to their shop there would be no problem and suggested the PCM thing if I was really concerned or needed to take it to a different dealership. Not sure if he was just blowing smoke up my ass or not.

He was blowing smoke. He was most likely just trying to get you to spend your money and hoping you won't have issues. If it was that easy it would be a widespread solution. And GM would have a way to block it. I had different PCMs for my turbo Fiero but that was for different tunes for different fuels and obviously no warranty no matter what.

Good to know, thanks for the info. Glad I didn't go ahead spend a bunch of money. I use the car as a daily driver and do about 25k miles per year. So warranty is big for me. Once the warranty is done I will be modding. Until then I don't want to get into a situation where something happens and I am stuck shelling out even more money.

Thanks for the bad news guys - will at least get the CAI done and then decide if I go down the tune route or not. Out in Dubai they don't really pay much attention to this stuff. It would be different if my engine looked like a piece of art but looking stock will hopefully not raise eyebrows.

Other than the one which doesn't require a tune to get the most out of it, is there anything better in terms of HP / Torque gains?

Thanks so much. Looking to order tonight

what does mileage have to do with the ECU? mileage is not recorded in the ecu to begin with. We tried swapping out ecu's on a 2009 ZR1 and Z06 and it works with no issues, as long as the ECU is flashed with your vehicles VIN and everything.

On the other hand you gotta pay to play if the warrantee is such a big deal dont mod, simple.
