If I would have known the car had this before I bought it I probably wouldn't have. I am considering trading car in on something else where HSA can be turned off. I really like the car but HSA sucks on it in my opinion. Who enjoys stalling the car or burning the clutch or jumping through hoops just to drive the damn thing. HSA takes away from the "driving experience" in my opinion when you encounter hills on a daily basis. I bought this car for the right reasons and performance but in my opinion all of the electronic strangleholds they put on these cars now is ridiculous and takes the performance out of them somewhat. HSA,skip shift,AFM,stability control, parking assist, rear view cameras,ect... They are not a "drivers car" anymore. I realize some people like some of those things but alot don't and you shouldn't be forced into them. my opinion.

Get a tune then man! All those electric computer things that retard us can all be taken away at the cost of voiding your power train warranty.... which sucks...so far I haven't had any major issues with HSA, but im sorry that you have :( All in all, working hills is a responsibility that one gets buying a manual car, so things like HSA shouldn't be added on at the drivers expense! But hey, at least traction control can be turned off at the flick of a switch!

Ya, I turn the traction control off, I got the plug for the skip shift, but this damn HSA can't be taken care of. Others on here say it can't be tuned out either. Really wish this issue could be alleviated somehow.

Is it utilizing the main brakes or the e brake for the hill assist? There has to be a actuator or 'noid that can be unplugged

It sucks! People who can drive a stick either end up stalling or having to wait until the car starts rolling backwards, which defeats the whole purpose.

The main brakes I believe or a combo of being on a hill, the main brakes on,and the cutch in. Thats wierd though that if you put the e-brake on when HSA is activated it will immediately deactivate it.

I would hold the clutching, use the heel of my right foot on the brake, put it in reverse,
Then rev the motor a lot with my right toes. The assholes behind you usually back off!!

I've recounted in this thread and in more detail in others I almost had a severe wreck because of it. If the car hadn't have had all that power when I got it re cranked the second time, I have no doubt I'd have been hit.

I'm waiting for that to happen as well. Every time HSA comes on I instantly mute the radio so I can hear exactly what the engine is doing as I try to break free while riding clutch and feeding gas. What a deal boy.

When it detects that you are stopped on an incline, it will automatically continue to hold the brakes for 2 seconds. In theory, that keeps you from rolling back while you work your right foot to the gas peddle. In actuality, it causes you to either stall out because it's still holding the brakes while you depressing the clutch peddle, spin the tires because you gave it a bit more gas this time to not stall it, or burn the clutch because you were giving it more gas but didn't want to spin the tires so you held on the clutch peddle a little bit longer because you don't know exactly when it is going to let go of the brakes.
