CD07, Didn't you provide a review on Poorboys spray and rinse wheel cleaner a while back?

If so, how does the Adam's product compare? Excluding the green weights, of course.

It's not really the same type of product. Poor boys would be the best there is due to the fact that it requires no scrubbing except it completely ruins any sprayer you use it with. I think it's because it's so thick, it just clogs it up. Next time you go to use your spray bottle, it doesn't work. The only thing I can think of is possibly running some ipa through the sprayer before putting it up, but I don't have time for that.

Poor boys is also less safe on some wheel finishes. I have pretty much a whole gallon of it left and I just don't use it.

My personal opinion is that sonax and Adams work just as well as one another but sonax gets the nod because I've never personally had this problem with sonax (even though one guy on Autopia apparently did).

Thanks for the honest review Matt!

Very strange, indeed. As Dylan mentioned, this is the first report we've gotten about the discoloration on wheel weights and we have hundreds of bottles already out there and in use, not to mention the months and months of testing and re-formulations the DWC went through before it was released.

Interested to see what the results are on other cars you use it on.

Just to update this... apparently getting wheel weighs from a tire shop isn't as easy as you think. Most of the places I called had a "You want what?" tone... then declined to sell just weights.

Most did confirm that they purchase 'non-lead' weights only, but a few indicated that they can get cheaper imported lead weights pretty easily. Amazing how many different materials I was able to find out they use.

I'll update once I have weights I can let soak in DWC for a day.

I'm not surprised. I bet a lot of places are using the illegal lead weights still and don't exactly want to hand them over.

I did a little research as well. I read that a lot of the weights will have a marking on them that says what they're made of, but I couldn't find anything on mine

When you bash others experiences with certain products and processes due to your opinion, you lose credibility.

When you try the products in the same manner, then you can bash away!!

Sorry this guy ruined your review CD07.

Great review!!!
David, I didn't say anything to you in that stripe thread that warranted this sort of attack. This thread? Absolutely. It was sarcasm, frankly because of the shot you took at me in the other thread. Was it in poor taste on Matt's thread? Absolutely and probably would have just been left alone and ignored, but you clearly couldn't just leave it alone. To Matt and the readers of this thread, I openly apologize for bringing here.

I don't want to hijack Matt's thread here and and as I said above apologize to him all the followers in the thread for where ever this rant will lead, but I've re-read the stripe thread several times now and as I indicated to you in that "I'll personally make every attempt to not be confrontational or disrespectful unless provoked" but you insist on continued confrontational and disrespectful comments in yet another thread. Even in my sarcasm, I won't resort to that.

We share a common passion with our Camaro's but in particular the detailing selection an equal passion for sharing what we've learned with each other and there certainly isn't anything wrong with not agreeing with one another, as long as we're respecting each others opinion. I don't need to bash anyone's opinion even if I don't agree with it, but I will respectfully disagree particularly if misleading information is given.

If your idea of respectfully disagreeing is to tell world "Any feedback from you isn't worth $#!t. IMO..." and "Sorry this guy ruined your review CD07." then I guess you're entitled to your opinion and although you probably could use to learn some tack, I still respectfully disagree with you.

End rant

Didnt have issues with Sonax either, I like both products equally so far they both perform the same for me.

ok ok

sucks that you liked the product and then had this happen I have a new bottle and wanted to try it out when my wheels were destroyed after a track day.

I hope we find out what caused this or I will let you guys know how the 110 % return policy works out for me.

I know Matt and the Adams crew want this resolved asap.

It sounds like I'm a pretty isolated case. I'm not sure what sort of garbage weights Discount Tire gave me, but the odds are you'll be fine.

My DD van is going to be a better challenge candidate for this product. Can't wait to try it out though. I've been on the fence for a while on the Sonex product and was glad to see your comparison.

Ill try to comment once it arrives. Unfortunately the Camaros are still under cover until the weather here breaks and washes away the salt. In the meantime there's LOTSA work waiting for the Adams product on my DD when it arrives.

Well had a spare set of Weights laying around and soaked them for a few hours today. You can see just a hint of green on the side edge. It rinsed right off. Still think it is a harmless reaction to Zinc in weights.
Just a little story.
In sidework I help conserve old Spanish Shipwreck Artifacts and Coinage.
Sometime when we conserve silver it can get a temporary copper discoloration with a reaction to some of the chemicals and processes we use. A number of years ago one of the first times they left me on my own to conserve some silver( a couple of Reales(coins) and pieces of almost 300 yr old silverware) Took them out of the water and thought I had ruined them. About died The Chief Conservator at the Lab laughed his azz off when I came to him and confessed then showed me it was no big deal. Easy for him to say. lol now.
