2012 Questions/Timeline

I purchased my SS in February and am now really starting to enjoy the car. I have had the top down a couple of times, and with the season starting I am looking forward to many more topless adventures.

My car was built May 9, 2012, it was a sepcial event car and went directly to Kansas City for the MLD All Star Game Parade. I am not sure if something like this would get "special" attention from the factory since it was on display for all to see?????

I have done my research prior to purchase, and found information stating the "fix" was implemented in the line by April 2012... but who knows.

Anyway, I actually left my car out in the rain yesterday just to make sure it was OK. I guess I have a paranoia, and since the car is garaged I am unsure what to look for. It survived the downpours and is back in the parking alot again today ready for the next wave of April showers.

I have searched and read most of the stories, but hey are usually already at the point of failure......

What are things I should be looking at or noticing to try and stay ahead of the failure? Is there a single thread outlining failure and cause???

Thanks for feedback.....
I'm the guy still smiling.

Some of us have cars that are fine and others do not. I can say that I have not had any problems except some wind noise from the back rear window.

Don't be paranoid...if something is wrong and you are checking your car regularly, you will notice it.

The immediate thing to look for is the 'v' marks above the door from the fabric being pinched/rubbed on the frame. Mine had them on both sides, after the TSB was applied, just one side now. I will be taking it in for evaluation and probable replacement soon.

Check the back floor carpet for dampness & water. Thats usually where it gets wet first.

Am I out of the woods? If all these cars are failing from the git go, wouldn't there be a bunch of cars ON dealer lots with wet floors?
That is why I assumed they degraded in someway to start leaking????

OK, can you explain the 5th bow to me??

I didn't have the water leak in my 2012 until after the 5th bow let go the first time. Just FYI...

My 2012 broke this winter, when it was in storage. I open the top half way to work on the car and when I closed it the seal came out and the 5th bow was broke. 10,000 miles on the car.

And what happens once it is broken?

There was no symptom, the dealer couldn't find anything wrong with the bow, but they had a part# change so they assume the part was upgraded.
When the bow breaks the back of the top goes limp and the seal pulls away from the body, you can run your had down between the body and the top.
