Received the message at the dash while driving that the top wasn't secure. While stopped and trying to check it out, learned that the trunk won't open when car is reporting top in that state, even though it appeared fully retracted. Eventually discovered a driver's side ball and socket cable/rod to retraction mount connection had come off. Replaced the socket on the mount. In putting the top up, the driver's side was lagging severely on it's own, but I could easily pull it to the closed position.

Will be taking it in to the dealer to have it checked out.

Any one had this experience?
Looks like I'll be waiting for the 2014's.

I dont know, so far this is really the first serious incident posted about a '13 top problem and it could be isolated. Of course, there could be a lot of issues that will surface once summer comes. But I do think its far too early to claim failure on the '13s!

You really think that's what I was doing?

If I could, I'd wait for the 50th Anniversary.

I sure hope this isnt a whole new top issue with 2013's since its supposedly fixed on them.
I did take it into the dealership and they looked it over. I was told it only needed some adjustment to get it operating correctly (given one of the ball & socket connections had come off) again and it appears to be working fine now.

+1 for the mustang.
if mine continues to be problematic that is exactly what will be on my driveway instead of the camaro. It's a shame since the camaro is such a nice car ,too bad about the garbage roof.I wish I had of known about these issues.I actually test drove the mustang along with the camaro prior to my purchase and IMO the camaro was a better overall handling car for my needs.Too bad the roof is not as advertised.

I know its not much consolation, but that's the reason we've been on here continually warning others that there are problems (as well as the FB site http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/226942550693692/ ). Problems that they should know of so they can make an informed decision with all the information given; vs just GM's cool video's and marketing baloney. So at least you may be helping others.

And classicrocker, I too have the seal wear in the trunk. As noted previously, that is a known problem. Mine will be replaced when she comes out of hiding.

yes.trying to help others where I can.
I must say however my dealer has been fantastic, supportive and the service manager had done his homework and is aware of the problems.

my 5th bow was replaced April 2012 and my water bag replaced June 2012(at least I ended up with the newer design water bag).knock on wood, the 5th bow and water bag have held up so far after the repairs...but still keeping my fingers crossed.

I do however have a slightly bent roof frame piece above the drivers window, which is being replaced after winter storage and my dealer will be installing new fabric top at the same time.

again keeping fingers crossed for good and long lasting repairs...

re: trunk seal wear
after mine was replaced and a clip attached to hold the cable away from the seal..no issues since.

Top issue

Ahhh, here's the answer to my problem, just called to have mine in for what must be the same broken bow, it looks slightly buckled just like your CruuznLV... hopefully it will not take too many days to repair.

Time to deal with my top issues

I just got into a new town so now I've got to find a new Chevy dealer & see if they'll deal with this issue properly.
This looks exactly like mine and I pointed out to the manager today where the top touches the frame. The dealer tried to tell me that was a crease and (check this out) the tonneau cover is standard on my 2011 1lt and that the owners manual says you must use it with the top down. Needless to say, my first visit didn't go well. I'll give them one more chance to do the right thing.

Had mine examined at the dealer and they will be handling under the warranty, I'm at 32,000 miles. They were were tryng to determine whether the repair could be done in house or sublet to a convertible upholsterer. Parts have to be ordered and they will advise when they come in and will provide a loaner vehicle during the repair process. So far being handled without a hassle.

Lucky you. I've opened a case with GM. Hopefully, I can get the issue resolved without anymore hassles.

It took the dealer 13 days to repair the 5th bow on mine last month - luckily I was working out offor 9 of those dasys and theyoffered a rental car when it wasn;t ready when I returned home from the trip. The Service Manager (not service writer) tried to tell me there were no known issues with convertible top. Then I pulled out a print out of two service bulletins and he said "OH!" He tried one last time to tell me the top facric just looked like it needed to be stretched. Then I handed over page after page of threads with pics from Camaro5 about the tops.
