17" wheels on ZL1

It seems everyone goes with 18" wheels for drag setups, but has anyone tried fitting 17's in the rear? Does anyone know if they will work? Not too familiar with fitting wheels on these cars, so any help is appreciated! Gotta start somewhere...

I haven't heard of anyone, eventually you won't be able to fit them over the brakes.

The front rotos are 14.6" and when you add the calipers I don't think you could fit 17's. How much space do the guys running 18's have?

I have searched and read you can fit 17's on the V2 as long as the wheels are made to fit the brembo calipers. Just wanted to see if there was anyone actually doing it for the ZL1. Also, I am just concerned with the rears. I think the front brakes will definitely be too big to fit.

Yes, you can fit 17" Wheels on a ZL1. But just like the SS, only a couple wheels from a select few manufacturers will work. Weld RT-S Wheels, Bogart Racing Wheels, and CCW wheels are about all that will fit, and you have to get their specific sizes/offsets made for the 5th Gen Camaro. You may also need to modify your lower control arms or buy aftermarket BMR arms. Not sure about the ZL1, but on the SS, you have to clamp back the emergency brake cables and remove the "rollerskates" from the front brake pads.

Here's a ZL1 sporting 17" Weld RT-S wheels front and back.

Thanks blazzin. The RTS's are actually the wheels I was looking at. Just wanted to see if it would be possible to use them on both my ZL1 and my 4th gen as drag wheels. It would be an easy swap!

I would assume very different offsets from 4th Gen to 5th Gen. Also, the bolt pattern is ever so slightly different, but that shouldn't stop you. But the offsets will.

17 x 10 RT-S rears and 295.45.17 tires will fit the CTS-V, but they need to be custom made. As you can see in this thread, the calipers fit but it is pretty close!

That looks pretty mean the way the brakes fill the wheel!

I have had 17" Welds on my Z. Looks like the LCA will have to be modded or replaced to make proper clearance on hard launches. The vertical bolt that attaches the stabilizer bar may also be close to touching on hard launches.
Fronts fit on fine.
