Wouldnt be to much of a improvement going from fe2 (v6) to fe3 (2010-2011 v8) what you should be looking for is fe4 and up swap if your wanting to go factory upgrades

I thought I read somewhere that swapping the V6 and SS springs would offer about 1/2" drop. Feel free to chime in if anyone knows true or false

Is it necessary to change struts/shocks too. I got a hook on a set of springs from a local member already. Don't want to take the car apart twice if I can help it

You can change springs only if you want ss springs will fit v6 struts just fine

The springs will definitely change your ride height. As others have said, go for the 2012-2013 SS suspension for more of an upgrade

Installed a full FE3 suspension yesterday. I am liking it so far, can tell a difference with the stiffer springs and bigger sways. Unfortunately I snapped the threads on the driver strut by over tighening the top most nut
