Need advise on Camaro SS purchase
Thinking of getting a Camaro SS and came across some conflicting information in the 2013 Camaro brochure.
On the performance page it states the 1LE package does the quarter mile at 12.9 @ 113. Then under the regular manual SS info it says it will do the quarter in 12.9 113 also. You buy that ? So the trans and rear gearing upgrade of the 1LE does no good in the quarter mile ? I was thinking of the 1LE package but wondering if it's good money spent. Really hate those black wheels though. Is the manual 426 HP that much better a performer on the street than the 400 HP automatic ? What performance additions could I do to either that would be reasonable and yet not affect warranty ? Thanks. |

About the only thing you can do without messing with the warranty would be an intake and anything after the CATs in the exhaust and better wheels/tires. The rest would be mostly cosmetic. You may be able to do some suspension stuff without totally voiding the warranty. I think doing the suspension will just void the warranty on that area. The rest of the warranty would still apply.
As far as preformance, I think the 1LE would be a touch faster in the 1/4. The 1LE is set up more for a road course or auto-x then a dragstrip. With Auto versus Manual, the manual will feel faster, and more fun. The Auto will be easier on you in traffic and according to most results is just a slight bit faster in the 1/4 then the non-1LE manual. |

You could sell the wheels/tires for most if not all of the package cost. At least you could before the knockoffs were released.
In any case, there is more to the package than just the wheels. And it's not a 1/4 mile package, it's a handling package. The package included several things I wanted anyway, so it was a no brainer. |
