Placed order on June 30th. Dealer said that there were 2 people ahead of me but that we would all get into their July allocation.

Still waiting on an Order number... how long does it normally take?

you should get your order number the same day you placed your order. provided that your salesmen put your order in GM Workbench

there have been some, but its the people that didnt get their orders put into the workbench

There is another current thread that addresses the same question you just asked and many answers. The quick answer is, IF your dealer in fact, put your order in the Order Work Bench system, an order number is automatically generated, the dealer should be able to give you the order number, regardless of allocation. If the dealer tells you, NO, you don't have an order number, guess what? Your order is not in the system and is just on paper or piece of tissue and who knows when the dealer will enter it in the system.
Say the dealer tells you that they will enter it next or whatever, on their next allocation. Say another person walks in and is willing to pay more than MSRP ro more than what you offered...guess who is going to be entered next???
